| The Best of Giving & Receiving Thread This year has been a tough one on alot of us. There were times when I wondered if a "downsized" Christmas would be ok for our family. It was. Christmas has been just as special and memorable as the others, maybe more so. My Giving: It started out with my 6 yr old Granddaughter handing me her "list" in November and on it was a "globe" (& a laptop, dart board & webkinz) a week ago I asked her again what she wanted for Christmas. She said (pass a tissue) "Grandma, all I want is for you to have the best Christmas ever" I said that any Christmas that I spend with her is my best Christmas & what would she like for Christmas? She said "a globe" I asked if she wanted a world globe like her brother. She said " a Snowglobe like Santa gave Charlie in the Santa Clause movie" OK, I get it now. It took some tracking & hunting but being the resourceful Grandma that I am, I finally found a Santa North Pole snowglobe (@ 40% off). This morning her Christmas Wish came true. Christmas is special. My Receiving: DH gave me a 3" Case Pocketknife for Christmas. Non-skid footies from my nephew & a scrapbook family album from my daughter(they were very strapped for $ this year so she went through 11 yrs of photos and made albums for everyone). I am blessed.

| Oh so sweet. My 5 yearold granddaughter asked santa for "crayons with points on them" So cute I bought myself a camera a month ago. My kids cannot come today, we are still in blizzard conditions. But they are all well and safe. |

| I love that story! Christmas is all about the heart - and your family has a lot of that! You are truly blessed to be surrounded by so much love. By the way, you're a wonderful Grandma for taking so much time to track down that special North Pole snow globe (and at a great deal too - bonus! ) Merry Christmas Day! ~Susan

| My favorite givings was my mom a shawl. She has been wanting a big one cause she gets cold so easy. I happened to be in Ross and saw it as I was leaving. She loved it. My brother asked for gift cards for best buy so he and his wife could buy a new tv. He wanted her (married since July) to get it before he leaves for Afghanastan in March. He will not be able to be with us next year as his national guard unit will be there. My receiving: Everyone on here knows I got a boston terrier early for christmas. My bro and sil got me puppy feet pj set. Bless their heart it is a L and i am more comfortable in a 2 x but it does fit. Dtr got me some recycled earrings from overstock world store. Love them. My mom is the one who usually buys the most presents and she out did herself again. She got gift certificates to the same restruant for me and hubby, dtr and her roommate, my bil and his fiance and bro and sil/sd she told the restruant we would prob all be there at the same time. And we prob will. Even with all the money setbacks this year for all of us, just getting together esp in light of my bro's plans was great.

| My husband asked his kids to make something that was sort of representative of their talents or interests. His youngest had gave a B&W photograph of her doing a dance move, his son hand drew snow scene (we live in California, so he wanted us to remember the snow, and his oldest daughter did a charcoal drawing of our three pups! They all did a great job and created such fun gifts for him! |

| Thank you! I think it was even more than my husband expected. It was so much better than any purchased gift. Its fun hearing everyone's Christmas stories! It doesn't take a lot of money to put a lot of thought and love into a gift!! Great thread!!! |

| Are's was downsized too, but it was one of the best we ever had. Everyone really appreciated what they received, and we were just so happy to all be together, and have a nice meal.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I downsized mine this year and was just happy my Dad was able to be with us as this most likely will be his last. My brother went through 50 some years of pictures and scanned them and out them on a disc and gave us each a disc with one of the pictures in a frame of my parents and us 4 kids at Christmas from about 1964. It was so special. My husband bought me sheepskin seat covers for my car and a dyson ball animal vacuum, which was totally unexpected as we agreed to downsize due to us both being retired now. Christmas eve my birth son and his wife came over and we had a great evening and today my whole family (minus my Mom RIP) was at my house so it was a good Christmas but bittersweet.
