Donating YT 30K Club Member | My foster pom has Giardia The pom I am fostering had bloody diahrea today so I ran a stool sample in to the shelter and they called back a couple hours ago and said she had Giardia. She had a fecal on Sunday that was negative? So I ran out and got 7 days of Panacur from the shelter. I am worried about my Pixie as she is a poop eater so I have to be extra vigilent.

| No, giardia is very contagious. You can have it on your shoes and track it in to your house. I don't know if this is true, but I've heard that people can get it as well.

YT 500 Club Member | Yes I read it comes from infected water also like from wells I read it can be treated but is very contagious so baically taking your dog for a walk in petsmart I guess if a dog has it and poops in the store and they don't clean effectively your dog could get it ?

| And be extra careful to wash your hands a lot because you can get it too! I'd keep them seperated, or just go ahead and treat your girls too just to be extra safe, when I had a puppy with it my vet just gave me enough medicine for my others to be safe. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Thanks! Does anyone know if the medicine panacur has any side effects? She seems restless. Is it safe to treat mine even if they may not have it?
