| Creditors and non-creditors in todays economy Okay..I just need to complain and let it out. I always pay my bills on time....not a single late payment on my credit report. I've had 3 credit accounts closed on me for crap reasons. First--I have no idea and when I called they said they'd send a letter, but I didnt get one. Second was because I have not charged anything in a long time. Third--this one is the icing on the cake. It was my overdraft protection on my checking account. It was closed because I hadn't bounced any checks...OMG--they would rather I not have overdraft protection so they could charge the higher fee-the overdraft fee is the only thing i can think of. Now-I pay for credit monitoring...I received an alert today saying that I had a collections account. I immediately called the company and they said it was for mail order CDs. I have never ever been a member of something like that. I always purchase all of my music from itunes and have for years. They told me i could dispute it and they asked if i received a bill and my reply was "no" and they said "oh well most customers dont realize its a bill because it looks like junk mail".......DUH---there is your first problem!!!! Who actually really opens all of their junk mail?? Anyway, I will most definately dispute it, but in the meanwhile it sits on my credit report and gives my creditors a reason to hike up interest rates, deny me credit, etc. To fight it-it will cost hundreds...its my word against theirs. I just give up on trying to maintain good credit... |

| I'm on the same boat - AMEX just cut me off with not a single reason that makes sense. I have never missed a payment - never been late - the reason I was given.. "general population risk due to the economy." WHAT????????? BOA tripled my interest even though I have always not only never been late - but typically made double payments...... Same reason was given to me. Oh, but they agreed to lower it back down 1 point. - uh, yippe? I agree - I told them individual merit obvioulsy no longer matters. Because now I have a forced closed credit card on my credit record.....

Do the banks not realize that people with good credit do have choices? When the credit card companies start sending out credit card offers, I'm chunking them in the garbage. I am determined to never use a credit card AGAIN. I dont have to--I only ever used credit cards to build credit. This will backfire on them....nobody who CAN afford to pay their bills with good credit will ever agree to pay 30% interest or annual fees. Everyone I know is bitter with the credit card companies and have all vowed not to do business with them again. | |

| Yeah - we are already in the process of cashing in some stock to pay them off, then bye-bye!! Luckily, we don't owe a whole lot. But I refuse to give them one penny of interest more than what I agreed to!

| It's not just you, it's happening to everyone! I was feeling bad myself - mind you I do not have a late payment on my credit report, always pay over the minimum etc and have had the same type of thing. Either reducing my available credit or increasing the rate then my boss got a letter that they were increasing his interest rate. This is a person who charges thousands of dollars a month and always pays it off the following month. I figure if they do it to him, I shouldn't be feeling bad anymore. But it does make me mad! |
