| Where is the Customer Service? Its out the window. I worked retail for many years and while there were days that I would have soon killed someone than to look at them, I was helpful. Tonight I went to Academy. The greeter at the door was just leaning over on his podium, I asked where water bottle holders were at. He pointed me in the right direction. Next I am walking through the store and asked someone where the dri weave socks are and if she knew if they had insultated water bottles. Her response, I dont know (shrugs shoulders) if you didnt find them already then we dont have them. THEN she walks OFF!!! Really??? So I go right back to the guy leaning on the podium and asked him. He was telling me well I guess you can look in hunting. I said, you know what, how about you send your Manager up here and he can personally show me where the items are. Manager comes up with this young boy, Sean. Sean took me right to where I needed items which by the way was NO where NEAR hunting. At least he was nice and helpful, even after we gave up on the socks. He came running to the front with a pair that he thought I would like. It seems it is everywhere, poor customer service. No one cares. I found one person that wanted to help, with even a smile. So that helped. Whew, that was long but I needed to get that out.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I know, it's so sad, I think it started with gas stations that made you pump your own gas, I loved having someone check my oil, and clean my windshield! We either have overfriendly waiters/waitresses, "Hi, I'm Kimberly, and I'll be your server, and best friend forever," or we have rude and helpless "associates," we no longer have salespeople. When I find a store that has great customer service, I'm extremely loyal, and I'll stick with it even though prices aren't the best. The phones are what drive me nuts, pushing 20 different buttons before I can get to a live person, who then disconects me, and I have to start all over . . .

| It is sad. I was a hardware sales person for Sears. I was always super nice and went out of my way to find someone something and that is why I always had the best sales, because my customers always came back. I think the thought process of everyone has changed in that they feel they are better than the job. Kind of like when people have no job and say...well I am better than McDonalds...so they would rather make no income than "go that low". It is ridiculous. Gosh, the other day we went to Subway and it looked like drug dealers were running the place. The women was talking on her phone and kept going in and out, the two men looked like they were strung out. So when I got the number for customer complaints, the women looked like she was going to hit me. People are afraid to complain anymore. It is sad and we should. The standard is lowering because everyone is accepting it. I'm sure 20 or 50 years ago you had lazy people...the difference was the customers complained and didn't accept it. And Nancy, I know exactly what you are saying about the phone robots. The Disney company kept sending me DVDs that I declined but they sent any way...so I wanted to talk to someone so I was not responsible for shipping. They kept sending me the number that was automated...finally I found out the only time you can get a live person was to call to sign up. (They tried to sign me up and I told them I had a problem, and they had no other choice but to fix it since I was already on the line. )

| Why does the stupid phone thingy ask for your acct number? When you finally get to a live person they ask for the acct number!!! Many years ago I was a cashier in a supermarket. I'm talking in my teens. We were never, ever allowed to take a sip of anything at our register. Now the girl/boy is texting while I'm standing there with the money in my hand. I don't live in such a secluded area that I am forced to shop at these stores. There are a million around. I will not shop in a store where the people Pi$$ me off!!!

| Oh .... I hear ya.... speaking of customer service... I had a doozy of a story with United Airlines last week. I won't bore you with the details but for the first time in my life, I wrote a complaint letter. I got a nice response and a $150 voucher. I didn't want the voucher, I wanted my story heard. I wanted someone to say I am sorry you were treated so rudely and that one of our people did that to you. It was nice that they said that the woman's manager was notified of her behavior, but I'm sure nothing will be done. I took down the woman's name and badge number. I was THAT upset by her attitude. I don't even want to fly them anymore so the voucher, although nice, will probably expire without me using it.

| I know what you mean about someone texting instead of working. I was at a McDonald's drive through last week, on my way to work, and the woman in there was too busy texting on her phone to give me my order. There I am, arm hanging out the window, waving to her like an idiot and she just keeps texting. When she finally finished she oh-so-slowly picked up my order and said 'Here' while she shoved it out the window at me. I would've called the manager when I got to work & complained, but she IS the manager.

| Your all so right! It seems that most people in customer service, whether on the phone or in person in the store don't want to be bothered! It's not my fault you have to work! I find so many just plain rude! They almost make you feel guilty for asking a question. This brought back a memory that stayed with me for years. I'm going back about 12yrs ago! I was in Macy's doing Christmas shopping on a Wed, when they have their big sales, or did at that time. Anyhow, I'm standing in a long line waiting my turn. It finally came and I was paying by cash, having just cashed my Xmas Club ck. The cashier bagged my items and said next! Excuse me I said, you forgot my change! At which she said, Holy s**t, I forgot, I'm so use to ringing up charges! I almost fainted and the whole line gasped in shock! She was young and it didn't seem to phase her how loud she said that. |

| well i must say that you are all right, (sometimes customer service su-ks). but i will say, i work in customer svc now for almost 21 years and my customers love me. the stinky thing about it, is they only want to speak to me because i do myjob and get it done.. anything my customers ask, im on it. i wish i can say the same for my co workers. they just do give a hoot and it makes my company look bad and we have lost alot of customers. some people should be so lucky that they even have a job to go to. im thankful everyday. sometime it doesnt pay to be so nice, because you get nowhere.. the key is always answer the phone with a smile.

| I was in the Walgreens pharmacy drive through this morning - to drop off a prescription. As I was sitting there at the drive up window, I watched them wait on 3 different people who walked up to the inside counter while I was sitting there. I was getting madder and madder - I was almost ready to start HONKING when the girl came up and waited on me. I said to her that I had been sitting there watching them wait on 3 people who walked up to the counter while I was sitting there waiting and that was not right. I didn't say "HELLOOOO, I'm here, I can see you ignoring me!", but I wanted to. She did apologize, but still, what is up with ignoring the drive up window??? I would have been in and out MUCH quicker if I'd parked, gotten out of the car and walked inside the building!!!

Nothing ticks me off quicker than it being the Manager. Thats when I get the district manager and regional manager's name.

| Customer service rants I agree, and having worked a very high stress "customer service job" that could become viotale and simply unpredictable, and possibly physical. Verbal de-escalation was a job skill I mastered. I was always the professional, courteous and consciences. NOT an easy task, especially when lifes challenges were difficult. I have absolutely no tolerance for the most simple customer service job (in comparison) completed in an indifferent and nasty way. I will also demand a manager and will never let my family or friends be treated rudely for no reason other than lack of people skills or that they are simply having a bad day. This is not done for a minor matter. It may seem harsh but they represent their company and I suspect many times their behavior is not known by the powers that be... I am guessing most customer service procedure manuals contain similar requirements as to how to treat a human being / customer. Ok, my venting finished...
