| Convince me; DSLR camera/Mac?! Okay, I'm kind of a technical geek I love new things... cameras/laptops, etc. I'm a college student currently still living at home. I love good quality pictures, love taking pics of my dogs, my brother, my sis, my cousins, etc. I'm looking to get the Canon Rebel XS . It's available on an eBay site for $468 right now brand new, and they do take returns after 7 days (reg. price nearly $600) I have enough in my account right now to get it and still have plenty left over and be comfortable and pay my bills (car insurance, cell phone, etc) However.... I really have been wanting a Macbook Pro for a long while now. I've got a $200 gift card to Apple as well as -$100 for my college discount. But I'd still be spending over $900 for a Macbook Pro. That would pretty much drain me currently and I wouldn't have much left over and would have to be tighter w/ my money for a little while. So I cant get a Macbook either way for a couple months. I'm currently making approx. $100-$150 a week dog-sitting, and will be starting work at a hair salon next week. So it's not like I don't have some sort of an income and will be making $$$ back. I'm just sooo bad at spending my money LOL. I feel so good knowing I have $$___ amount in the bank yet I want so many things I could also probably sell the cameras I have now either to someone on YT or on ebay or something. It's actually a really good camera (Canon sx110) but of course... I want better! lol. Also, I'm trying to find out if an slr will be a pain to carry everywhere. The Rebel is actually not THAT big, which is why I like it. Should I ..... a) be smart and continue saving money to get my Mac laptop in the next few months and no camera?? Or b) should I get myself a dSLR camera now and still have plenty of money left in my account to "rely" on and just forget about the Mac until Christmas time?? or c) just not buy anything considering I don't NEED either of these things but they would make me happy

The reason I'm tempted to just click "Buy it now!" right now on ebay is because it says they accept returns 7 days after received. So if for some ODD reason if I decide "eh maybe this camera isn't for me"- I know I can return it. Or if I feel guilty for spending the money, I can get it back, LOL.

| According to the apple rumors (TUAW, macrumors) there might be new laptop models coming out in December, so who knows what will be available by then anyway. Let us know how you like the camera! I'm most curious about how difficult it is to learn how to use. |

| Should arrive tomorrow. Thursday at latest! Question - it's obviously just coming w/ the kit lens (18-55 mm lens) which will be good enough for me to start with, I'm hoping. I know it doesn't zoom much and I really do love using Zoom. What would the cheapest, best lenses be for me to have a little better zoom? Even if it's only 5x, would work for me.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I have the 18-55 for my Nikon. It will be just fine for you right now. I use that one most of the time I only use my big lens for Things like bird or moon shot's. |
