| Breast Reducion Surgery Hey everyone, as you may know I am no prude and have been very open in one of my other posts about getting a breast reduction. Well the time has come. My husband and I will be leaving on Sunday from Japan to fly to Hawaii for my surgery to take place on the 16th. I am so nervous( never been put under) but I know this is what I want! If anyone can share stories with me of their experiences with any surgery I would love it. I saw some really bad scarring of a friend of mines breast which is what I am most worried about. My mother had this procedure done about 6 years ago and I can't see any scars on her. I've always healed pretty fast and well so maybe I won't have such bad scarring. Anywho.. thanks for listening and hopefully I won't be out of commission for too long

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Hey girl. I had the surgery in 1997. I went from a 40GGG to a C cup! lol I would do it again in a heartbeat, however, it hurt like crazy! You can still see my scars underneath. When they take the drain tubes out the day after surgery is when I about lost it--that was not comfortable. Then once I got home my mom had to come stay with me for a week. I could not get up without help. They told me not to use my chest muscles for a week, so she would have to come to the bed and push my back up so I could get out of bed. It will take a long time for the nerves to come back, I couldnt feel any touch to my breast for a couple of years. And I would have these shooting pains some times ( i guess everything was coming backI together ). I was also black and blue and when I first saw my boobs I wondered, what in the crap have I done? WITH all of that, I was so happy to not have back pain, not have to wear a bra with like 5 snaps in the back & indentions in my shoulders went away. Not to mention being limited on clothing when I went shopping. I was able to start wearing sexy bras and I was no longer self conscious. Good luck & dont be scared about being put "under"....that is the easy part! Just take care of yourself, follow their orders and when You can start putting scar cream and vit e on your scars. I am always here if you have any questions! Dana |

| I wish you the best of luck with your surgery. When I had mine done, my plastic surgeon was adamant about limited movement of my arms and sleeping sitting up for a while. He did not want me rolling over on his "work" during the night. Before the surgery, I fashioned my pillows and got everything ready, cause you sure can't do it afterwards. Since I live alone, a good friend took the dog until I could use my arms again. The limited arm movement is to help prevent bleeding. I was in steri-strips for a long time, that supposedly helps keep the scaring down. However, I do have scars. If they cut you open and sew you back up, you are going to have scars. How noticible they are depends on several things. Just do what the doctor tells you, stay sitting up and take it easy, even beyond the point when you feel like doing things. Make some meals in advance and put them in the freezer. Forget about "taking care of someone", like cooking and laundry and such. Let them take care of you.

| Thank you all SOOOO much! I love hearing stories about other womens experiences with this procedure. My husband will be with me so I will have someone to take care of me... I want a small C cup.. I am falling out of a 38D right now.. and I am only 5'3.. and being in the military I HAVE to run .. if I wasnt in .. I would maybe think twice about the procedure.. but the fact that I have to exercise at least 3 times a week whether I like it or not was the deciding factor.. plus being able to wear normal cute clothes.. my boobs always are in the way when I shop for cute clothes... you all know what I mean! LoL thank you again for all your support~!

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Good for you! I'm glad you decide on doing this surgery, I don't have your problem, but my mom does, and she has suffered back and neck problems because of it.She never got around to have a breast reduction and regrets it dearly. As log as you do your homework and do a back ground check up on your surgeon you'll be fine.Like with any surgery you will have scars, depending on how you behave and take care of yourself can make a huge difference on how the scars will heal. Wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery .

| You have made a decision you are happy with, so that goes a long way in how well you will do. Your attitude is in the right place. I sure hope the military does not expect you to be exercising and running for a few months, because that could really hurt the outcome of your surgery and cause problems. Upper body inactivity is very important, until the doctor tells you otherwise. How long will you be in Hawaii? We are here for you if you want to chat. I think you will do just fine. Thank you for your service to our country! Barb

| I had the surgery in 2003 and went from falling out of a 38D to a comfortable C. I have to tell you that it was the best decision I ever made! I have scars as well but they are hardly noticeable. My surgeon offered me a couple of turns with the laser machine (they use it on the scaring to help reduce it) and I also put Vitamin E oil on the scars. I wasn't able to sleep in my bed so I crashed on my mom's couch and let her and my boyfriend take care of me. I was out of commission for about a week. I too had limited arm movement and sharp pains but when I told the doctor he said that the sharp pains were just my muscles and stuff going back. The doctor actually told me that once the stitches were out I should soak in the tub to help relax the muscles and I did so. I would totally advise that to you. The only time I had any trouble was when I went back to get the drainage tubes taken out. I passed out as soon as I was walked in the door and was wheeled to the back. I would STRONGLY advise that you have someone take care of you and take you to the doctor. I wouldn't worry about being put to sleep that's actually the best sleep you will ever get! Good luck!

| i've never had the surgery, but have been put out twice in my life and it feels like you just woke up from the best cat nap ever. don't worry about that part, it's easy and it's not that scary. you really don't feel yourself fall asleep and you are a little bit confused and loopy when you wake up from the stuff, but other than that it's really an easy and safe process. good luck with your surgery and i wish you well on getting the body you have always wanted. i was on the other side of life with too small breasts to make me happy but through better bras and push ups and a little weight gain i'm finally happy with them enough to go on and live life and be proud. breasts are a very touchy subject to a woman who isn't satisfied with the way hers look, i'm glad you have the opportunity to make them exactly what you want and to lesson the back pain and problems they give you because they are too much. i wish my aunties could do that for themselves so they wouldn't be so uncomfortable as well...good luck!! |

| I had my surgery Feb of 08. Best thing I have ever done. I am not going to lie, the recovery was a bit tough. But I did have a lot of tissue removed. over 3 lbs per side. The pain was so worth it! I would say the first week was the toughest. You can't really lay down flat because its hard to get up. You are not supposed to use your arms. And you are not supposed to lay on your side. I ended up sleeping on the sofa propped up. My surgery took 4 hours and I was in recovery a little over an hour. Went home after that. I am still pretty big up on top DD but they are perky and a great shape. My Dr did a fabulous job. The scarring is pretty intense, but you can't see them unless you are really looking. Working out is so much easier now. I can wear just ONE sports bra. Instead of 3. My shoulders and neck feel much better. I know longer have the strain of the heavyness. Good luck with your surgery. IF you have any questions about it let me know. |
