| I finally did it Joy! Well It's been a long weekend! My spill down the stairs on Friday took a toll on my right ankel. I didn't go to the doctor this time because I know it's not broken. It's just really really sore. I have an ace bandage and a brace on it. The swelling just won't do down regardless how long I stay off of it. I had lots of time to finally add more velcro to the harness I got from Joy. It was just a little big and needed a little more velcro. I took a picture of Gus in it. The picture is a bit fuzzy but he looks so cute it in. Thanks again Joy!!!!

| Monica, I fell on the ice last winter and broke my right ankle in 3 places - my foot was just dangling off of the end of my leg - so I've been down this road! Three months off my feet!!! UGGGHHHH!!! And the right ankle means no driving!!! As hard as it is, what you need to do to reduce swelling is to keep your ankle elevated ABOVE your hip, and keep your hip ABOVE your heart! While doing this, keep ice on it for 20 minutes out of each hour your awake. To maintain the position, my orthopedist (sp) suggested laying on the couch/bed with a pillow under my (although already generous!) butt to keep my hips higher than my heart, and to keep a sofa cushion or two under my ankle to keep it higher than my hip. I know it sounds hard - thankfully I had all kinds of drugs to keep me still and make me sleep! (Aleve or Advil should help.) For entertainment between naps, I had my husbands laptop on my chest playing Scrabble and card games. Wish I'd know about YT then!! Good luck and feel better soon!

Thanks so much for the advise! I have been trying to keep my legs elevated and did keep putting ice on for the fist 24 hours off and on. I have to take care of my niece and it's hard to completely stay off of it. I can walk, but not too much. I even drived to pick up the kids from school on Friday. and it wasnt too bad till I had to brake. It's not bruised like the last time and is only swollen right around my ankel bone. Very strange!

| Hi Monica, I just saw your post. I'm sorry you fell and hurt your ankle again. My hubby has a bad ankle problem too. He has to wear a brace all the time. He tore ligaments. You should get it checked. Gus is so cute. In the future I'll know he needs the x-small. lol. Hope your feeling better soon and keep us posted. |
