| Pop the question help-romantic ideas Cheesy...sure...but great ideas are found everywhere. The few I have thought of seem too original to me. I already asked my fiance if she would marry me.. she said yes.. 2 years ago. It was spur of the moment on a trip. I would like to do the official... on the knee ...romantic thing. I am looking for some good ideas. I am officially looking for rings and have found a nice princess cut white gold one. I never gave her a ring the first time. Ready to settle down w/ the piece of paper and a date. So ladies any suggestions??? If you didn't have a romantic proposal yourself, which would you like to have had? |

| Well, I'd love to tell you about my proposal story! It may not fit for your relationship, but it was perfect for me. First, a little background info. My husband and I had been dating for a while (like...5 years) so he knew a lot about me and had had time to collect various mementos. Also, I absolutely LOVEto read. So, my husband found an old book at an antique store called A Steadfast Heart. The book itself didn't really have sentimental value, just the title and the fact it was a book. Then he glued little souvenirs of our relationship all over the front cover; like...a unique picture we'd taken of our shadows holding hands, a movie ticket from the first movie we saw together, a duck feather that he'd picked up on a walk we'd taken, etc. Just random things that only meant anything to the two of us. He wrote a sweet message on the inside page of the book and then cut out a big square in the middle to put the ring inside. He drove us out to a small lake/park that we'd spent a lot of time at and took me out on the pier there. He gave me the book, and while I was looking at it he got down on one knee and proposed. The rest is history! Oh, one more thing...I'd always stressed that I did not want the whole public proposal...not in a restaurant, not at a sporting event, not in front of my family. I can't stand being in the spotlight, so he was careful to avoid that! Good luck on writing your own romantic story! -C

| Hubby and I dated exclusively for five years. He was working in Denver. I eceived a Telegram that said -- Will you Marry Me. And and dozen roses and a phone call. It was followed by a plane ticket to fly to Denver to "approve" the lose diamonds that would become my engagement ring. That was 28 1/2 years ago. |

| LOL on the dog collar. Well I like all of yours so far. I know she is afraid of planes. She is a very private person as well. Doesn't like big crowds if possible. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | My hubs asked me when we were just laying in bed one evening, we were chatting away...and all of a sudden he started reading me a couple poems...and pulled out the ring. It was really sweet and low key. I'm so glad he didn't do anything public, or over the top as that's not really me . We got married, just the 2 of us, a year later - on the side of Camelback Mountain - our dog Wylie was best man AND maid of honor (we didn't have Marcel yet).

| I had an exfiance, we were together for 9 years before he proposed. We went to NYC to a Yankees game, then to the hotel ... we had a 4 day trip planned there with lots of things going on. During the game though, our first 'outing' in NY, up on the screen was a MESSAGE that said (you won't believe this!!!!) xxx (my name) WILL YOU MARRY ME?? xxx(his name) I turned to look at him and he said "Sorry babe, not you or me!" How weird is that?? I didn't expect him to propose during this trip at all he always told me he never wanted to get married (guess he meant it as we broke up 5 months later) but after the game we went to the hotel to check in and we were in the room and I was upset about double booking hotels and how much money it was going to cost and he was unpacking his suitcase ... I was almost in tears and he turns around and says "Yeah but... will you be my wife?" LOL Ring in hand! I was like "WHAT??" He said "oh I mean ... (got down on a knee) and said "Will you marry me?". I was stunned! Later he said he had the ring during the game and it was killing him. I said you should have done that when our names came up on the screen! Someone else paid for it for you! hahaha

Donating YT 11K Club Member | I think you should do it in private if she doesn't like crowds. She can enjoy it more and savor the moment. I also don't like big crowds so i would be freaked out and embarrassed if someone proposed to me in front of a bunch of ppl lol

| It was Sunday morning laying around on the bed and it was her birthday. No on the knee, public place. Her bday is early July so the ring is a ruby with small diamonds around it and I have kept JB in rubies since then. I kid her about getting an "official" engagement diamond ring. Our 20th anniv. is in a couple of years.

| LOL.. well I do know that she told me she "hopes" I don't propose on any major holidays. Said that was too typical. I think her last proposal really stunk from the ex, so she wants the "sweep off the feet deal". Then though at the end of July she says " I kind of thought you would propose during the fireworks". She looked a bit sad. Guess I'm scratching my head over that one. What happened to no major holiday? |

| lol that's a girl for ya! Maybe do it on labor day lol its a holiday but not major. Take her out to the lake, pack a romantic picnic, and put the ring somewhere where she will find it unexpectedly. As she is looking at it tryin to figure out what it is- propose!
