I have 5 baby wrens here that I am hand feeding and hoping and praying to get them all to adulthood. Yesterday, a cat killed the mother bird and the father bird was nowhere around to take care of the babies. A lady called me for help because I have been successful in hand raising many birds. She just couldn't get the knack of feeding them, so she brought them over last night. Poor babies were so scared at first and wouldn't open their beaks, so I had to force feed them. They have been much more relaxed today and they now open wide for their food. Right now I'm feeding them baby bird formula and they eat lots...and poop even more! I fed them about every half hour today. Every time they hear my voice, they start chattering and want food!

I have some pictures here...I will add pictures to this thread as I take them. I have fallen in love with them, and Maddie and Libby want them, but I have them safe from the puppies. I got a glass hamster cage that looks like an aquarium with a screened top. They are still in their original nest and birdhouse which I have inside the glass. I am not going to let them see the puppies much because I don't want them to get too used to them and think they can trust them once they are released. Here's pictures...

Oh wow.. they are precious. How long will have you have to care for them before you can release them?

Aww so cute and how great of you to take them in. They have quite a bit of feathers already......how old do you think they are? I used to breed zebra finches a long time ago & it's amazing how quickly they change and grow.
A girl I work with volunteers for a wildlife rescue here and has brought a baby bird or two in with her cuz they had to be fed. They two started chirping everytime she spoke to someone.

She's also brought in baby bats and baby opossums.

Kind of cute when they're little I guess, but ewwww.

Aww hooray for you!They are so adorable.
This year I have found a baby blue jay,sparrow and a golden finch that I hand reared just for a few days until animal control could find a wildlife rehabber.My husband calls me modern day snowwhite because wildlife in trouble just seem to find me

Oh, how sweet!! I have a friend who found a small wren with a broken wing and nursed it back to health. They tried to release it but it never did learn to fly properly/very far. So now they just keep him with them. His name is Kramer and he's hilarious. But he doesn't like the color red and will freak out if he sees someone wearing that color...

Oh my goodness Connie. They are so precious. Loved hearing the babies little peeps when we were chatting by phone.

Connie you are such a Dear Lady, these precious little ones are so very lucky.

We love you, please make sure you take time to eat and sleep, hopefully they will be able to have their feedings be further apart to give you a break.
I showed the pictures to Jack, he enjoyed viewing them as I too did
By the way those little babies aren't the only ones lucky we too are so very lucky and Blessed to have you as our friend and also everyones furbabies that are fortunate to get to wear one of your Connie's Creations.

Awww, Connie! How sweet of you! I love the pictures! I hope your babies do really good and I'll be looking forward to watching them grow! We once took in a baby bird and fed him for a few days, maybe a week before he flew off one day. But a day or two later we were walking home from the store and he flew up nearby and chirped at us before flying away. It was as if he were saying "thank you". I'll always remember that.....

I wish you the best of luck with your baby wrens. Hopefully, they will do great.

We had a nest of baby wrens outside our backdoor, this summer. Unfortunately, the mother built the nest in a hanging plant, and the babies fell out in a storm and did not make it. Wish I could have helped them. So especially sending good wishes to you and the babies.

Thank you! I also think all baby animals are darling, except I guess I can think of a few that I wouldn't be taking in. LOL

Hello! I'm thinking a couple of weeks inside...then I'll see about releasing them. Once released, I still have to keep a food supply nearby for them. The mother wren usually feeds them about 10 days once they have left the nest.
