| Braces? So I had this brilliant idea to get braces. And Man! THEY HURT! They were supposed to be "Clear" but it looks like I have little razor train tracts running through my mouth! Thank goodness for wax. Any other yorkie talkers have/had braces? Tips to help with the icky pain? |

| I dont remember exactly, but it took a couple weeks for my teeth and cheeks to get used to the brackets and wires. I'm sure that I lost weight because I couldn't eat. Motrin can help, and there are some mouth rinses that help also.

| I had braces for 2 years... They hurt at first, and everytime they make a change it hurts for a couple days. (making you wear rubberbands, changing the colors, tightening them, adding springs, etc...) I only put wax in when I had a couple springs in the front and they would poke my lip. And when he would change the wire on the top or bottom to make it tighter. Sometimes he didn't cut it short enough and it would poke me and I'd put wax there until he would cut it. Hope that helps.

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I had braces for 4 years. I heard they hurt more as an adult than as a young person, though. Lots and lots of pain killers. (not at once though! haha) Whenever I went to have the bands tightened, I would take a pain killer before going, because then by the time it wore off, the pain was subsiding. Ya get used to it after a bit. and there's nothing like the day you get em off!

| They are quite painful at first, but only for a few days. Occasionally they will feel 'tight' after adjustments for a day or so. You really do get used to it after a while. Not really anything you can do other than OTC pain meds. Just try to stay positive and think about how much happier you will be when it's all over. |

| I had braces when I was 28 and pregnant with my 3rd child. I remember they always hurt when they were first tightened and that would last for a few days. That was 30 years ago. Maybe they have improved since then. Wax does become your new best friend.

| I thought about getting some braces. Are the clear ones cheaper than invisilign? They want 2000 for the top only for invisilign! My teeth used to be straight until my wisdom teeth pushed them a little closer together. I just turned 30 and wonder if I'm just too old for them now.

Yes the clear braces are cheaper than invisilign. I had braces when I was in Jr. high but, of course, never wore my retainer...so they moved. I got invisilign and they were supposed to be $4,000 for top and bottom but my brother's best friend is my dentist so he only charged me $2,000 for top and bottom. I wanted to straighten them now and get a retainer so I wouldn't be one of those old people I see with bad teeth!! I'll be old with good teeth

| Thank goodness for good genes! I always wanted to have braces ( I know, I know) Thankfully my teeth were straight because my parents never had the money for that sort of thing.
