| Spent a little too much time in the sun... Okay so I hope that everyone is having beautiful weather like we are!!!! But I do have a favor to ask...I spent a little too much time in the sun with too little sunscreen and have roasted myself (OUCH!!!) Does anyone know anything that will help I am not even able to sleep at night b/c of the sheets rubbing my skin even more raw than it already is! Any suggestions store bought or home remedy would be tremendously appreciated!!! Thanks in advance from Toasted in Tennessee!

| The only thing I've heard of using is aloe vera (whether directly from the plant or bought in the store). I rarely get sunburned, and when I do it's just on my nose and goes away the next day, but I've heard aloe vera really soothes from others who have had bad sun experiences! Oh, and maybe putting on silk pjs if you have them? I would think that would help with the rubbing of your sheets. Last edited by AddieLove; 06-01-2009 at 03:41 PM. |

| Apply vinegar to your skin, it cools it and helps take the sting away. Sunblock next time! Skin cancer is at an all time high. Sorry, just looking out for ya!

| ouch- be sure to take advil- that will help with the pain here are a few other things you can do- - put 2-3 cups of vinegar in a bath and soak or soak towels in vinegar and use it as a compress- supposed to help the pain - ice packs and drink LOTS Of water to keep hydrated |

My furkids Donating Member | I got really burnt a couple of years ago...I actually had sun poisoning, feet swelled so bad I had a hard time walking....anyway...I bought a spray at the drugstore...I think it's put out by band-aid...it stings a little bit when you first spray it on but then it takes the "ouch" out of the sunburn..

| Another good remedy is to fill a stocking with porridge oats, tie it around the bath tap and run warm water through it, creating a kind of 'oat milk' bath. Then just lie back and relax as the oat milk takes away the sting. This works well with eczema, too, and helps relieve itching.

| Ouch... sounds like you have some good ideas hope they worked out for you. I remember having a bad burn and not being able to sleep. Noxema helps take the burn away.... I would probably take something to help me sleep, like unisom.

| Apple cider vinegar is the best. If you can't take the smell, plain, full fat yogurt works really well too.

| Sitting in a cold bathtub for an hour will help too... my ex was a firefighter and everytime I got sunburnt he would take a wet towel with cold water and put it on the area for at least an hour, he'd keep wetting it with cold water every few mins and it would take the burn right out. At first it hurts almost but then you go numb and then the heat comes out! It was GREAT!

| I have used vinegar before and it works great. A sunburn can be very painful and a severe sunburn is not good for you. Please protect yourself when you are in the sun.

| Thanks again I was actually able to get some sleep last night the vinegar was awsome to soak in and after that DH sprayed me down with Solarcaine (my new BFF for the week)...I did not try this but someone at work told me to rub down in Whole Milk...something to do with the fat in the milk helps which is almost like using the whole fat yogurt that was mentioned earlier! What would I do without you guys?
