Senior Yorkie Talker | Need Advice on what to do!!! We had 2 stray beagle mixes show up at our house this past weekend. One boy and one girl. The boy is very friendly, but the girl is very timid. The boy actually had an ID tag on, but when we called the number the lady told us that she didn't want them anymore and that she was just going to let them run. My husband has started feeding them (I know we probably shouldn't have, but they were starving!). So, needless to say they have stuck around our house & in our neighborhood. The little girl follows the little boy around everywhere, so I really don't want to have to take them to the shelter b/c I'm afraid they would split them up and she would be absolutely lost without him. I have posted on local websites & newspaper to see if anyone would give them a good home, but I haven't had any responses. We are leaving for vacation in a couple of weeks and I need to find them a good home before we leave. We already have 2 dogs of our own, so keeping them really isn't an option. What should we do??

| If she doesn't plan on taking them back. I would post something on your local craigslist or kijiji.. unless you plan on keeping them. Unfortunately, we can make these people take them back and if you call the authorities they will just take them to the pound. You could also look up a beagle rescue group to see if they might take them in... Good luck!

YT 1000 Club Member | I'm glad you fed them. Who would have the heart to just let them wander around starving looking for a place of shelter and food. I'd try to find a good home for them and if no luck by the time you leave for your trip you can try a no kill shelter. Post some flyers at your vets office, grocery store and anyplace else that will let you. Even the laundry mat is a good place. While people are waiting for the clothes to wash and dry they pretty much read anything and everything! I'd also try to keep them as a pair since they seem to be so attached. Good luck and I really feel for these poor little dogs.

| How about looking up some reputable Beagle or small/medium breed rescues in your area. This is so disturbing....how could someone just say they don't want them and let them run free I also agree to post ads at your Vet too! Those poor poor babies ~ no home, no love |

| Those poor babies!!!! How could you just let your pets just go like that?!?! I'm so glad you are feeding them and trying to find a good home for both of them. I agree with the other posters to try and find a rescue and put up posters that they are a loving little pair that needs a good home. SO SO SAD!!!!

| ugh, that is just so horrible! Those poor doggies. I can't believe she even left the collar/id tags on the little boy if she was just planning to "let them run" anyways. I hope you can find a beagle rescue who can help. How do some people sleep at night?!?! I wanted to add that I know there is an Atlanta Beagle Rescue, but I don't know how far that is from you. Hopefully, there is something closer. Here is the website, just in case they might be able to help: http://www.atlantabeaglerescue.org/

| People like that really tick me off...if you don't want them for life then don't get a dog!!! I am so glad that you fed them I could not imagine letting my dogs just run loose and not caring if they did or didn't have food water or shelter..my FIL is one of those people that drags home every stray he sees (which is why he has 8 dogs) fortunately we have a program here where you can take in a stray and they will spay/neuter for free as well as update on shots as long as you agree to keep them or find them a good home. what can I say everyone in my family is a sucker when it comes to animals. Keep us updated on how they do and if you have any luck finding them a home!

Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks everyone for your advice! I still get mad when I think of what this lady did. These dogs are so friendly and sweet and I can't imagine just letting them off somewhere especially knowing what could happen to them!! They are still at our house and we are still taking care of them. My husband works with a guy that says he may be interested in taking them both, so please keep your fingers crossed! I really hope he takes them! I have searched for a beagle rescue group, but the closest one to us is in Atlanta which is 5 hours away. It isn't too far, but I really don't know when I will have time to get down there before we leave for vacation as my husband & I both work full time jobs. The little girl dog either got hung on something or bit by something as she has a big gash in her back. I took her to the vet today and they gave her an oral antibiotic and put some cream on her just to keep it from getting infected. It makes me sick to my stomach knowing that someone could do this especially when they are such friendly natured dogs. The little girl was very timid at first, but she is slightly warming up to us. I know they had to be raised together b/c they are inseperable. Just keep them in your prayers that we can find someone really soon who will take them and give them a loving home!!!

| Some people are just stupid like that. Im so sorry. We took in a beagle last year because my DH found it in the woods starving it is very scared of people, we think that it must of been abused bad. Shes a fat girl now. we call her Molly. I hav etried every thing to find her a good loving home. I had even called a few rescues and the no kill shelter in our area. no luck. they told me they are full. yet I see them taking in new dogs every other day. they told me I could call the game warden to pick her up, I asked what will happen to her then? they said she would be PTS... I said no way, we didnt take her in to fatten her up just to have her PTS. so shes still here. Its so hard to find good homes for alot of them. so sad. |

| I hope your husband's co worker can give them a loving home and take them with him. I really hope that that happens form the bottom of my heart. As for the former owner, I will not go there...

| Oh those poor babies How can people be so flipping cruel?!?! I can only imagine what's going through their furry little heads They were very fortunate to be found by you! Maybe if your hubby's co-worker were to "babysit" them while you go on vacation, he'd get attached and decide to keep them?
