| Help - Bridal Shower! Can anyone give me some good game suggestions for a bridal shower? I am hosting one for my best friend this Saturday... and conveniently I have never been to a bridal shower in my life I have the place booked, I am buying decorations tomorrow, I have someone to cater.... but now what do we do?? I'm not sure how many people will show up, because on top of the invitations I also put up posters in the two grocery stores (we're from a very small town... it's commonly what happens for bridal showers there, and collection envelopes are left for people to donate to the couple). I will also be buying a shower gift tomorrow, and I have no idea what to get. How much should I spend for a bridal shower gift? And I'm really hoping people don't get bored with games.. I'm sure there should be time for mingling and things like that too. It's an evening shower so it starts at 7. I'm thinking that as people arrive, I will give them all a little paper for them to write down some advice for the bride, and then put it in a box for her later. I guess we can do a half hour of mingling and then I can start some games for an hour or so. Then she will open gifts, and then people can just mingle until they leave.... does that sound okay? I'm really going into this blind!

| a GREAT game is bridal shower Bingo- You make bingo cards of commonly given gifts and people "play bingo" as she opens her gifts. Also a fun game is Bridal Scrabble- Using bride related questions and usually you use the inital of the bride and groom so: Name one thing you need to bring on a honeymoon- every tells their answers- if you have the same answer as someone else- you dont' get a point- if you have an "oringinal" answer you get a point. and every answer has to start with the same letter as the name of either the bride or groom (choose whichever is easiest) |

| As for the gift, don't they have a gift registry? Some people love games and some hate 'em. I'd probably go with about 2-4 games depending on length and involvement of the guests.

| They do have a registry, but not much there under $100... I will spend more on the wedding present, but should I spend that much on the bridal shower gift as well?

| I was the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding back in October. I gave her a really nice wedding gift so for the shower, I gave her a gift certificate to Victoria Secrets to help pay for some wedding night lingerie.

| At one bridal shower I attended, the guests went into groups and "made" a wedding dress on one of the participants using toliet paper. The "prettiest" one won the prize. It was fun as people got very creative. This particular wedding was a beachy theme and the prizes were plastic beach pails filled with a beach towel, lotion and plastic water jug. As for a shower gift, I've given a basket with a bunch of little goodies like bath oils, sea sponge, candles, glasses and bottle of wine. I've also given a food basket for all the fixin's for a meal such as a pasta dinner. box of pasta, jar of sauce, box of cracker bread, candle and wine. Stuff that they can have on hand when they get back from their honeymoon so they don't have to worry about dinner the night they get back. These are relatively inexpensive and usually not thought off.

Thor's Human Donating Member | I went to a baby shower recently, so some of these might be applicable: everyone was asked to think of a reason why the mother-to-be would be a great mom beforehand, and everyone wrote their answers in a special journal at the shower. Also make sure someone has a camera, and it can be fun to do a set of special pictures. I took pictures of everyone's shoes, since everyone had really nice shoes on. You might have everyone making a goofy face. Also, something I like to do on vacations with a group is come up with 100 memories (just one liners, like "The flight was delayed an hour and we got free drinks"). Someone has to be the list master. It's fun to do 100 because you have to really think back and come up with misc details. I love going back and seeing everything that got written from the trip, it really brings it alive. Maybe this could be changed into a shower game, like 100 memories of the future bride and groom by the guests or something like that. And remember to have fun!

I like the idea of the shower being the gift from the bridesmaids but that doesn't seem to happen.

| Thanks everyone for all your suggestions!! We have discussed the toilet paper wedding dress game, and I think that might be one we play! Probably the only one that doesn't have to do with sitting down and writing. For others, I think "How well do you know the bride?" might be good.. I'll just call her beforehand and ask a bunch of questions. Whoever gets the most right will get a prize. Oh, and as soon as everyone is walking in, I will get them all to write special thoughts for her, whether it's advice or reasons she will be a great wife, or anything. I am going to buy a nice box today to compile them all for her. We might have time for another game too... For game prizes, I was thinking I can just go to the dollar store and buy something like a picture frame or candle holder or something. At my cousin's stagette last year (held at her friend's house), they gave picture frames as prizes and I thought that was a cool idea! Oh yeah, is it necessary to have guest favors? It's kind of open to everyone so I have no idea how many people will be there. Great ideas for bridal shower gifts! I really like the meal one, but they aren't going to take their honeymoon until this winter. I think i might go look for a basket of bath and body products or something like that. For their wedding gift, I still need to talk to the other bridesmaids, but I think it would be cool if we all got together and gave them a gift certificate for an airline. They love to travel, and they are going to Vegas this fall as well as their honeymoon in the winter. I think it's something they're not expecting, and something they'll definitely use!

| I just spent a morning shopping, and for her bridal shower gift I got a little massage package from The Body Shop, with two massage oils and a wooden massager. It was $45

I think favors are a nice idea; they don't have to be expensive. Actually, bath bubbles or something small like that would work.

| I got lucky with the favors! I found packages of 20 mints, individually wrapped with wedding bells on the packages, for $1.09. I got 3 packages and I will just put them in a bowl by the guest book!
