| Swine Flu!! Anyone else worried?!?! So one of the presidents of my company and another employee left for Mexico yesterday morning!! I'm seriously so mad that they even went knowing about the swine flu, what happens if they bring it back to our office!! We have a sister company in Consupago, Mexico. I'm so worried that the office is going to get infected, we have almost a hundred employee's, and we are in an office building that holds at least 10-15 other companies, one being Workers Comp. I don't know when the two people will be back in the office. I'm dreading it. Is anyone else worried about being infected??

YT 2000 Club Member | I have a son who was born with a Primary Immune Defect so I worry all the time about Infectious diseases I usually get a call ( from health department and also our Ped. Immunologist) when their is an out brake of certain diseases close to our area arround where we live and precautions are taken with the whole family. I was thinking of calling his Immunologist sense their is a case in Elyria, Ohio ( too close for my liking, we live in Sandusky, Ohio) Hopefully I will be put to ease about it all.

| I have friends who went to Mexico City last week on a church/mission trip. They went the day before the news hit about the flu. They are doing work at the church there and spending their down time at the hotel instead of going to town. The area that they are at, north of MC is flu free so far. I talked to their mom today and they are coming home on Friday.

| I don't know if I should be too worried. I use to work for a pediatrician, my roommate still does, and they have been having so many calls and people come in about this flu. The doctor assured her and all his patients that it is only a different strain of the flu, but it's still the flu. As long as you wash your hands and take care like any other flu outbreak then you should be fine. As far as Mexico... The one place I think keeps getting mentioned on the news is Mexico City, and as I remember it, these are the odds... 1400 cases are known of people who got sick, in a city of 80000000 people. So, 0.00175% of the population in Mexico city have gotten sick by that strain. It sounds a lot more scary if the news just keeps saying "1400 documented cases." People have gotten sick, and even died by other strains of the flu, of which according to my bio classes are many!!! There are more strains of the flu than there are vaccines for them. I'm not saying people shouldn't be careful, I'm just questioning how much it's blown out of proportion by fear brought on by the news. It is smart to be cautious and to stay away from sick people, or if you're sick stay at home instead of bringing the illness to the office. Wash your hands and take any other precautions that you would take during any other flu season.

Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | in calif. governor declared an emergency. More for preventative measures, but Im glad. I work at a hospital so we are taking preventative steps just in case there is an outbreak. Best thing, wash hands, keep hands away from face. Its pretty much the same as regular flu precautions, just a really bad strain. I for one will not be going to taco bell, or any fast food places for awhile. |

| I was glued to CNN last night, I really am worried, we had a message from our school system saything they are taking all percautions and there will be a meeting next week in regaurds to the flu, I have a very very weak immune system so I am even more panicked, I am hoping they come up with some type of vaccine soon... its really scary when you see CNN saying its a pandemic and so many people have already died its scary.. They did say that Mexico does not have the same medical tech as we do and people lack insurance and were delayed to go to the hospital but they still believe we will see several deaths here in the US , now that is really scary!! |

| The first U.S. death has occuered from it. Those were the headlines this morning. A sweet little 1 year old baby passed. My mom is a nurse and she doen't take the idea of an widespread virus lightly, so either will I. I think it is pretty stupid to travel to Mexico.

| 4 cases suspected in the area I work/live in MA. Scary! I had to look it up today, haven't been watching the news much lately and I had no idea what its about. It does not seem to be too bad if you are a normal healthy person, but if you are young, old or have a compromised immune system Id be nervous! These 'new diseases' lately that we can get from animals is such a weird thing.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Hubby went on a business trip where a hispanic woman sat next to him and threw up all the way to LA. She said she had food poisoning. Yes, I am worried.

Thanks for the voice of reason. I needed that. We have a couple confirmed cases in the county to the north of us and suspected cases in our county and others around us. Nothing confirmed until results from tests come back. I'll try to keep you statistics in mind. ~Joanne~

| It surely worries me as my husband buys and sells animals, pigs included. We don't live on the farm.
