| Las Vegas Honeymoon? My fiance and I are thinking about going to Las Vegas for our honeymoon! We originally wanted to go on a cruise but I just don't think our budget will allow for it. I'm thinking we will be able to get much more for our money by staying in the states. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on where to stay, what to do, what to see? Anybody from Vegas? Our budget will probably be about $2000. We are getting married November 7, but would prefer to take our honeymoon the week of December 20th. Ideally, we'd like to spend about 5 nights there. Right now I'm looking into staying at the Mandalay Bay hotel or the Bellagio. We'd love a really nice room, ideally with a hot tub or spa type tub! Help me! I need all the help I can get!

| Ugh, this is so hard! All of the rooms on the websites look amazing! I can't seem to find anything that mentions anything about honeymoons though. I'm probably going to have to make some phone calls to find out about honeymoon suites, huh?

| having been to Vegas many times and on cruises as well... I actually think that you will get a better bargain on a cruise and much more luxury.

| Really?! I am so clueless! Planning this honeymoon has been the most stressful part of the entire wedding so far.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | The Bellagio is very nice - we also love The Venetian and The Hotel. Food is $$$ in Vegas, as are spas etc. - but it'd probably be w/ in your budget, I think? The Venetian, btw, has a Canyon Ranch spa at their hotel - FABulous. Hmmm, it really depends on what you like to do - do you want to lounge around and beach it, or see shows/shop/gamble/eat (Vegas), or be active and sightsee?

| I totally agree with the previous post. I have done vegas lots, and cruises too! You will be spoiled on a cruise. Free 24 hr room service. So you only leave the room when you want to. Free entertainment free everything!! (booze you pay for on a cruise.) Vegas means waiting in lots of lines for meals, shows etc. If you love gambling they usually have a casino on the ship. There are lots of bargains on the internet . One site does specials on 90 day or less depart dates. Good luck with whatever you choose, they both would be fun!! |

Ive been to Vegas twice and I just went on my first cruise... depending on what you like to do, either one of them is awesome! Both go almost 24 hours a day... so thats not an issue. Both are warm weather so thats not an issue. I LOVED the cruise. I would do a cruise again .... but I love the ACTION of Vegas. I love walking the strip and playing poker in the poker rooms. I love the shows but they are SUPER expensive. My 5 day cruise with my bf from Boston to Fort Lauderdale on Royal caribbean was about $900 each person, however that was spring break week.... another time would have been cheaper... by November it would be even cheaper because that is hurricane season. Such a tough call, both are so much fun and exciting in their own ways. As Im getting a bit older I do like to dress down more and lay by a pool more than dressing up and heading out for the evening, but that is still wicked fun too! Dilemmas, dilemmas! Good Luck!

| OH yeah 1 more thing... when I went to Vegas once, we rented a house, a car and 2 round trip tickets and it was about $2,000 for the week. (we split this b/t 6 people) but the houses you rent have inground pools, jacuzzis, pool tables, full kitchens, usually a master bath with 2 person jacuzzi, big screen tv and many other amenities. It was nice to get to the strip but it was also really great to get away from the dinging and ringing of the casinos. That sound stays in your head for DAYS!

I'm worried about the cost of food as well. I know we can limit our money spent on gambling but we have to eat! The most important things to us are being able to relax and see things we may not get to see again. We don't want to be extremely active but it would be nice to go on some tours or go to nice shops.

At this point, I have no idea where we should go. I love the sound of vegas but going on a cruise sounds very exciting too! I just want the best, most luxurious, worry free honeymoon that our tiny little budget can buy!

| I guess it depends on what you really want to do. If you want relaxing..id do the cruise. If you want fun and on the go...id do vegas. The funniest memory i have is from vegas. I went to the room to take a nap (cause lets face it, in vegas you need it), and hubby went to the casino to play video poker at the bar. So after my nap i went down to see hubby (i had my hair in a pony tail). So i go to sit at the bar next to him and the bartender says "excuse me miss you have to be 18 to sit at the bar" Now mind you..at the time i was almost 32, I'm almost 36 now. So i just laughed at him and continued to sit down. So he looks at me and says "No seriously miss, i'm going to have to ask you to leave". Now by this time..my husband is laughing his butt off. So i grab my license and say to him "i'm about to make you look absolutely ridiculous in about 3 seconds" and hand him my license. The poor guy's face turned bright red and apologized repeatedly. And then to stop hubby from laughing like a goofball..i said to him "what are you laughing at? I bet he didnt even card you!" Needless to say he stopped laughing
