| Lactose Intolerance .. anyone else? I am lactose intolerant, and it totally sucks! I love cheese! I haven't had cheese in about 7 years! I'm only 20! I hope this is something I can grow out of! Anyone else lactose intolerant? What are your stories? How do you deal with it? I have trouble going to someones house for a dinner party or even a potluck because it seems like absolutely everything is made with some dairy products. Oh I envy you people who can eat dairy... |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | My husband is lactose intolerant, and there is a wonderful product that has the lactase enzyme in it, just be sure and look for the words, "lactase enzyme" in the ingredient list. You can get the generic brand; there is no difference. You have to take it before you eat the milk product, and one pill with 9000 units of lactase enzyme "cures" him. The product just replaces the enzyme that helps digest milk sugar. Some people have to find the right amount for them. It's weird because he use to be so sensitive, but after taking the product for a about a year before the meals with milk sugars, he became more tolerant, and doesn't always take the pill anymore. I mean he had a bad problem before. How can you live without pizza?

| I've been lactose intolerant since I was born- i'm 25- it hasn't gotten any better, however I can tolerate some dairy. For example- yesterday I thought it would be a good idea to have two bowls of cereal- today i am paying for it BIG TIME. But I can have cheese on burgers and stuff and not be affected but BOY do i love milk!!! |

| I was diagnosed lactose intolerant when I was 11 and I'm 20 now. I've never really cared for milk or dairy anyways so its not to hard for me to avoid. I actually recently started a a vegan diet and its great. Your not allowed to have anything made of or from an animal such as milk or eggs or any meat. They have ALOT of products that replace those products. You could try googling vegan diets and see what I mean. Once I got used to avoiding those certain products and filling those voids it became real easy to grocery shop..

| I am lactose intolerant also. Most asian people have a problem with it. I take the generic lactaid pills if I know I am going to eat dairy. I also drink the lactose free milk. It's expensive but at least I can have milk. But even sometimes that gives me a problem. It does suck having to watch what you can have. I try to carry the pills with me but sometimes I don't have any when we go out to dinner and I have to settle for something else.

| I am also lactose intolerant I am not a big milk drinker at all! but whenever I do have milk it's usually the fat free skim milk it doesn't seem to have that thick milk taste like 2% milk.. atleast thats what I think, and i've had this since I was born...I am a huge cheese fan and I still eat dairy and just deal with the stomache ache's and also don't have a huge portion just a little bit. I pay the most for ice cream and thats my fav!

| Me too...and my hubby too..and we have to buy lactose free milk which costs more. We still eat cheese but tiny tiny bit or eat and then suffer the consequences as we just love to eat. People say you should eat a little bit and you'll get more lactose tolerant over time not sure if that is true or not but we still eat a little cheese.

| I am lactose intolerant. I drink Lactaid milk and take Lactaid tablets before I eat dairy. I notice as I get older I can tolerate harder cheeses in moderation, but can't do cottage cheese. I often substitute soy or rice milk for regular milk, especially in lattes. Yogurt is no problem for me. I tend to buy frozen yogurt instead of ice cream or take the Lactaid tablets before. Put some Lactaid tablets in your purse and pop them just before meal time. Enjoy.

| i am too which means i do not get natural sources of calcium and it does stink because everything seems to have cheese on it but on a good note, i think this is one of the reasons i am thin because most cheeses and the yummy dairy products (like ice cream) are not very good for you
