| Gas Tax... I don't get it! So both the state I live in and the state I work in (2 different states) are passing bills to raise the gas tax. I am at a loss for words here. People are losing their houses, their jobs, can't afford basic necessities of life, and the only way the government can get more money is to take MORE money away from the little people??? I am horrified at what is happening to the citizens of this country right now. The price of gas FINALLY goes down to affordable so the state will now add $.20 a gallon to it??

| I agree! In California our sales tax is going up to 10%. I wanna move out of state so bad, no one is buying houses! We keep current on our bills, but it is not always easy. I think our president will be raising taxes more. His popularity rating is sinking fast. |

| Our state tax is going up here from 7.75% to 8.75% and gas is going up 15 cents a gallon and vehicle regestration is going up $70.00 per vehicle per year and now talk of raising taxes on our homes. I think you will end up seeing a LOT of empty homes in CA. A man in So. CA. lost his job, but decided to work cleaning out homes that were forclosed. He started out with two other guys to help him and now up to 17. They clean out 15 homes a day, so you see, it's only going to get worse. Our country doesn't take care of the homeless, and shelters are already overcrowded. I don't know what's to become of people, but crime is on a sharp rise. So scary. I'd love to go to Europe to live.

| The money has to come from somewhere to pay for the Stimulus plan the new president has put into action starting March 1st. I found a few extra $ in my paycheck today because of it. He giveth and he taketh away |

| That's what blows my mind. I don't need $13 extra dollars in my paycheck each week. I need my property tax to stay the same, my gas price to stay the same, my cable & electric to stay the same (taxes are supposedly going up on those also), and all that. What good is giving me money with one hand and taking away with the other? Europe is beginning to sound really good I think too LOL

The government should just keep their dumb money and keep the taxes down but they think they are pulling the wool over our eyes by giving us something. Yea right! | |

| The tiny drop of money you see in your pay check is in all actuality "your" money to begin with. They take hundreds from your check each month, and by giving you back a tiny drop of it, they think it will make you happy, and make the "President" look good. HA!

| Gas taxes, property tax and sales tax goes to the state and/or local governments. It's unrelated to what's going on in Washington. The states are broke and they are not allowed to have deficit spending so they have to raise taxes some how. They are probably raising gas & sales taxes because they are getting less in property tax and income tax due to the current economy.

| I know it makes no sense. So basically if you are lucky enough to have a job....they make it so you can't afford to get there! Ugh!!
