| Jewelry opinions needed - wedding band Well, after almost 28 years of marriage, my wedding band has seen it's last few hours. I ordered a new band last week - I have small hands and wanted a plain gold band to compliment my awesome engagement ring. I hope that you can "see" what I am going to try and explain and I would like some brutally honest opinions. I am going to take the old band and see if they can wrap it around the new wedding band like you were wrapping tape around something circular. Here are pics of my original band and my engagement ring. Please excuse my e-ring it desperately needs the cleaning it will receive tomorrow. |

| I've never seen that done but sounds like a neat idea! Making sure I have this right: you're going to see if they can soften the band and wrap it around the band of your diamond, like you would twist a pipe cleaner around your finger? The only concerns I could think of would be comfort-- it might be a little odd-feeling... Ooh, and would you have to have your diamond resized so that it would fit again? (since it's going to have something extra that takes away from the original diameter?) Of course, maybe your jeweler could flatten it a bit as it's wrapped. Beautiful ring, btw!

| That's a great idea Cindy Lu. I'm sure a jeweler will work with you and have great ideas. Good luck.

| I'd just take the rings to a good place and give them your idea and they may come up with an idea for you. I took my original wedding band to a local jeweler and told him what I wanted. So he placed a mounting on the pand with a 1/3 carat diamond I had bought as a necklace. He polished the ring with a brush look which had worn a bit......and it came out wonderful. So I have the original engagement ring and hubby now has one of the original bands (he lost his matching band the first year we were married). He bought me a diamond wedding band so the original band sat in the drawer for a very long time. So I am sure the jeweler might just have some great ideas to offer you as well. They can get very creative.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I LOVE the idea, Cindy! I'm sure a talented jeweler would be able to come up with something, there are lots of "wrap" rings out there, so I'd think they'd be able to "wrap" an original ring - I hope so bc it's just such a lovely idea.

| My E ring is wrapped. It was designed by a local jewelry designer. My wedding band is similar but its wrapped with 5 tiny diamonds (5 for May, our wedding month) My husband suprised me with it, and I love it!

| Thank you for all of your replies. I took my ring in this morning and the jeweler had it finished within a couple of hours. Please excuse the way my hands look, my skin is really dry . It isn't exactly what I was expecting, but I LOVE the results.... |
