| My husband just came home about 30 min ago and he said on his way home it was between $3 & $5 a gallon. When I was out around 4pm it was $2.89. But the way he comes home is a different town. Close to an interstate.

| Here in Johnson City it jumped from $2.49 yesterday to $3.05 today! Luckily, I work for the newspaper and got "wind" of the gas price hike and filled up mine and my husbands' car/truck last night at 2 a.m. just in case. Boy am I glad we did. They are even rationing gas here! Only 10 gallons per person and because everone is freaking out that gas is STILL going up, there are lines at every gas station in town and the city has agreed to shut down all gas stations as of 5 p.m. today. A few stations actually ran empty of 11 a.m this morning. We're in the process of getting a moving van and moving 5 1/2hrs from here.......we're having to pay for the U-Haul and the gas and I'm not sure if we can afford it if gas prices stay they way they are! Eeeck! THIS SUCKS!

| On my way home from work, there were huge lines at a few stations. The one in my small town where I work...It was still 2.49/gal. But there had to have been abou 150 cars lined up there and all thru the plaza parking lot. Then someone drove up thru the other entrance and cut someone off to get in line. The light then tirned green, so I don't know what happened then. Then the next light, about 3 miles up the road, gas was 3.19/gal. And that was the cheap gas. This is soo insane. Here is a little interesting thought.... Someone on one of the local news station had this to say in a nutshell... That for every 3 dollars per 1 gallon of gas, we pay 1/2 of that in just tax. So really, we are paying $1.50 for gas and $1.50 in tax. (don't know if that is true or what...) The Pres wants to let out the supply he has, which is only 4 or 5 dAys worth, and is a very short term quick fix. So the reporter wanted to know then, why don't they just give us a tax break on gas, while we are in this crisis? And that would help millions more people for a longer amount of time. Now, I am not saying that this is what should be done, but I do think it is very interseting and anything and every idea should be considered. $3.00 for 1 gallon of gas is insane and I hope they do come up with a long term solution. Gas was going way up even before "Katrina", so this was a major issue before the storm. And higher gas prices for me means, not shopping a whole lot, no traveling, budgeting more on groceries and cutting way back on fun things. Such as no going out to dinner, no movies, no baseball games, etc...which means we will not be helping the economy. People will make some major cutbacks on things. Something needs to be done. Sorry for rambling on!!!!

| Why is it that when the gas prices spike everyone runs to the gas station to fill up??? They wait in line for up to two hours....It doesn't make sense...These gas prices make me sick....we are paying almost $2.oo more for gas then we were 6 or 7 years ago...I remember going on vacation and my parents complaining about it getting up to $1.oo....we are getting the SAME thing as we were then....it can't cost that much more for them to provide it....DOWN WITH INFLATION of gas prices!!!!!!

| I don't want to scare you all, but this is what I know. I work for an oil and gas distribution company. By looking at the information center in my office, I can tell you the price of gas anywhere in the US, and what changes are going to happen each day. Over the past 3 days, gas for the distributors has risen $.85/ gallon. Because the people who have gas in their tanks did not pay this price, the actual cost of gas is not reflected at the pumps yet. Because of these increases alone, gas is expected to be at around $3.15/gallon in Oklahoma, one of the cheapest places. In California, it's going to be around $3.50. This is just the first in the raises. Prices are expected to climb to end up around $4.00-$4.50/gallon and stay that way for a while. It's unfortuante that the release of gas from reserves won't help much, because a lot of the refineries are shut down, and you can't have gas without them. I know that gas went up $.25 in Oklahoma today effective at 6:00 pm, but I'm not sure about everywhere else...it's usually comparable.
