| Say “NO” to CA Proposed Veterinary Tax Say “NO” to CA Proposed Veterinary Tax Make the Call Against the Veterinary Tax Proposal Now! As some of you may have heard, Gov. Schwarzenegger is proposing to tax any and all veterinary services to help balance California's budget. Please join me in opposition to this absurd bill. Call Gov. Schwarzenegger today and vote against the tax increase. The statewide proposed tax on vet services will cause veterinary prices to go even higher, meaning more animals dumped and abandoned. It will also hurt animal rescue groups, as they are already overwhelmed by an unprecedented increase in the amount of animals turned in. Adoptions have slowed by a large percentage and donations are way down, while fostering costs have increased because it takes longer to adopt their rescues. This tax increase will only increase the number of animals euthanized in this state. Over 150,000 animals are killed in this state per year already. That number is outrageous in itself, why add to it? This takes literally 5 seconds because it reaches the automated survey line at the governor's office — you can press the numbers one after the other without listening to the recording. The recording is automated so you do not need to speak to anyone. Dial: 916-445-2841 Then press: 1 5 1 2 What you are pressing for are: 1 for English. 5 for the veterinary tax proposal. 1 to choose that you're calling about the veterinary tax proposal. 2 to oppose the tax. Please repost and send this to all the animal lovers in your network! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Too bad he can't find something else to tax, this seems wrong. Vet services is not elective, but a necessity. I'm not sure that having people respond from other states will help. Shouldn't only CA voters repond?

I agree--this tax is wrong and will only lead to more animals being euthanized because of the additional costs associated with the services. The proposal also aims at taxing perscription pet medications too. My fear for residents in other states goes back to the good old quote "As California goes, so goes the nation" | |

| He's still gunning for this?? I thought they knocked it down months ago when it was brought up! I remember seeing something on the news where people gathered to protest it, but that was awhile back.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | This makes me sick. Why not tax LUXURIES more - like cigarettes, alcohol, whatever? But increasing a tax on health care for living creatures? DEPLORABLE.
