| So I've got a chipped tooth! When it happened it didn't even hurt. Basically I'm a bather and I had a crazy lab... I was trying to put a bandana on her and she was jumping up and down and then all of a sudden my mouth was hit. I was talking to someone else at the time and she saw, but didn't know how the dog hit me. The dog was fine, we checked everywhere to see if she was bleeding or if she happened to have a chipped tooth. It's not that chipped, you have to stare to see it LOL. Basically I have two questions. For those who have had a chipped tooth what did you do? I have a dentist appt tomorrow and I guess they'll tell me what the best plan is. I don't think I'd want a cap on my tooth. I have one on the back molar and I can tell the difference. Second question, is it possible to get workers comp for this. My mom is saying I need to file but... can I? I don't even know what "qualifies" you.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry that happened. I have my front tooth bonded from a big chip. I would ask your employer if that is covered.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yes definitely bonding is much better than capped, you really can't tell the difference between bonding and a real tooth. If it's small chip, they might just file it down a little to make it smooth, however, since you are covered for this because it was an accident at work, make sure they take x-rays to see if the tooth was slightly cracked or compromised in any way. It would be bad to have it filed smooth and then at a later time, more of tooth would chip away, leaving you stuck with the bonding bill.

| I chipped the corner of one of my front tooth maybe 20 years ago from falling off my bicycle. I don't think my dentist did a good job in putting in the porcelain for the chipped corner because afterwards, I was still able to see that the corner of the tooth has been chipped or is still slightly so. He did cut further in and I was able to see the connecting seam, if that's the correct term for it, however, it feels smooth/uniform with the rest of the tooth. That was a long time ago. Now, it looks the same as when he had "fixed" my teeth then. Good thing it doesn't come off like the fillings he'd put into my teeth did. I don't think anyone else has ever noticed it because no one really stares at your teeth, and I've never been asked about it. |

| Hmm thanks for the info. Didn't know about the bonding... I guess it's just like filling it in. It's not too bad or noticeable but it's sharp so that's the thing that's really bothering me. I'll have the dentist take xrays and what not and hopefully my employer will cover it. I still can't believe this happened, but I can laugh about it now. Thanks again!

| Your employer should have incident report forms to fill out. Fill it out of how it happened and who was witnessed to it. If it happened at work...then they have to pay for it.

| It sounds like you didn't Chip it very badly, if so the dentist will just file it to take that sharpness away. They don't even have to give you novacane to file it, it's painless.

| Alright, I'll ask the manager for an incident report. I did have a witness to, so that should help if they think it didn't happen at work for some reason. Everyone's so helpful here.
