| How long did it take to know that was THE ONE? Just curious, for those of you married or engaged, how long after you first met did you know that he was THE ONE?

| as weird as this sounds when I first meet my husband I was at work. He came in to see his friend (a guy) and I looked at my co/worker (girl) and said I'm going to marry him. (I hadn't even met him yet LOL) She said no way and I bet her, told her she could be my maid of honor. At the time I didn't know him or anything. Few weeks later her started working with us, we got to be friends but he had a girlfriend. After about 3 girlfriends he and I started to date, I was 16, we married when I was 18 and were married for 17 years before we divorced. It was weird though how i just knew. Same thing with my last boyfriend. I was working for a company when he interviewed. It was weird but I just had a gut feeling we would be together one day .... We ended up dating for 6 1/2 years.....

| I knew right away. I told my husband on our first date that he was going to want to marry me. Even though I "knew", we dated for a year before getting engaged and were engaged a year before marrying so by then I knew I had been right all along. We've been together 17 years, married 15. Meeting my husband was the luckiest thing to ever happen to me and marrying him was the smartest thing I've ever done. I just read the cutest (and truest) quote in my Real Simple Magazine. It says; "Love at first sight is easy yo understand, it's when people who have been looking at each other a lifetime that it becomes a miracle".

On July 4th we had our first date -It was 1978... On Nov. 10, my 19 th birthday he gave me a Brindle Great Dane. wetook her to O.C. Maryland on Dec. 2, 1978. It was warm and the boardwalk was soo crowded. We had parked way out in the lot. We were talking whilethe puppy slept in the car. He looked @ me and Asked me if I would marry him? I was 19 and he was almost 23. I said yes!! That Chrismas he gave me the engagement ring I picked out in the mouth of a Cookie Monster stuffed toy. We announced our engagement on Jan. 16, 1979 and were married May 5th, 1979!! Everyone said that it wouldn't last because of our ages...May 5 th 2009 we will be married 30 Years!!!

| I knew he was the one, when in my first marraige Mike and I were good friends,we've been friends for years but I had a horrible secret. My husband of the time was a wife beater, one night when John had beat me to the point I was out cold and left alone with a three year old little girl my daughter and a 5 year old son. Mike my now husband and the love of my life took me to the ER, after calling my Mom to come get the kids. Mike almost went to jail that night, I was too afraid to say who had beaten me, and the police thought he had done it. It took Mike showing me what a good man is supose to be like, to get me to take his help to move and get mental health help for the hell I went through. My first year as a single person I refused to sleep on my brand new to me bed as I was so use to sleeping on a rug next to the bed. Mike stayed with me, got me help and abosultely refused to do anything more then be my friend. It took us four years to become more. But there's a strong bond there. |

YT 2000 Club Member | when I was a sophomore in school, my friend showed me a picture of the "cute " guy that lived next to her sister. He would be graduating that year in 1990 and was from a different school than I. I hadn't even met him but I just knew he was the one I would marry! That spring I met him at my friends sister's house, he worked as a pizza delivery guy and was to be going to collage that fall while I started my Junior year of high school. We would just talk on occasion over the summer and sometimes after he got off work he would stop over and see me, he even came to my friend house to knock our tent down on us after he had delivered pizza to us that night Anyway's we never dated till May 20, 1991 and I have been with him sense then. I graduated high school in 1992 and We got married October 23, 1992, and a year latter on October 25 we had our first child I couldn't imagine my self without my Brian. He truly is the best husband and father a girl could ask for, and he treats me like a princess!

| Love I met Matt when I was 16. A friend and I went into a video store to rent a few movies one night. Matt was working there at the time. We chatted for a while and then we left. The next time we went to the video store he was working again. We chatted some more and left. I then managed to get his e-mail from a friend of mine and started messaging him on MSN. We went on a few dates and started dating officially in March, 2006. We both were (still are, of course!) really into each other and knew we were going to be together after less than a year of dating. Matt proposed to me in Calgary, Alberta in July 2008! We haven't set a date yet, but we are both University students so we will wait until we are finished to get married! Matt and I share the same birthday, he will be 22, and I will be 20 on Feb 23, 2009! It will be our 3-year anniversary in March! |

| Cute thread!......I like reading other peoples stories too! I guess you can say I pick all my men out the same way......Once I enter a crowded room all I have is tunnel vision for the lucky one...it's as if all the others in the room cease to exist, the others all become invisible to me.......There's some sort of feeling deep down that I just know this is the lucky one!!......I have never been wrong yet, and I've never regretted any of them!!..... I have taken them all home with me using just my female instincts as my guide..... They have all brought a smile to my face and warmth to my heart......I now have four men in my life that all came to be under the same roof this way....There's my husband and all three of my (yorkie) boys!!!..

YT 500 Club Member | I met my husband on a blind date, and I knew as soon as I met him. I can't believe it because I didn't think I would ever meet someone I could love again. I met him in Feb. of 1995 after my husband of 18 years walked out after having an affair in Aug. of 1993 (I had no idea-he blind-sided me). The minute I saw Lynn I knew he was just the person I would want to spend the rest of my life with. We were married July 4, 1996, and I can say that I have never been happier. We have weathered more than one storm (step children, breast cancer, Lynn closed the family business and was out of work for a year), but through everything I can wholeheartedly say I still feel the same as I did that night I first saw/met him.

| I met my DH at a wedding in June 1976. That afternoon I told him he was the kind of guy I could marry. (You can imagine what he was thinking LOL!) A year later we went looking for a diamond. We found one, and a setting, and the ring had to be made. At Easter, we were at my Grandmothers House for the Holiday. There was a plastic Egg that had a baby chick crocheted around it. We were sitting at the table and I was squeezing the egg in and out of the chicken. Something was rattling in it and He asked me if my grandmother ever put anything in the eggs. I said sometimes candy or jelly beans and popped it open. Out it fell! I said it's a ring ! It's my ring!!! We were engaged for a year and were married in '78. I can't believe we've celebrated our 30th anniversary!!! Of course I still have the ring, but I still have the little chick to! |

| wellll. I'm way on the other end. I met my husband when we were both 16 and working in a fast-food restaurant. I overheard him talking to another co-worker about his date the night before...and I thought "what a jerk" LOL!! When he called me a few weeks later...his first words when I said "hello" were "where have you been all day, I have been trying to call you!!" I said "who is this?" and when he told me I wanted to know how he got my #. He then said "when are YOU going to ask me out?" (If you knew my husband this is sooooo not him, LOL). I told him "never" and hung up on him still thinking this is the biggest jerk I have ever met. How or why we actually went on our first date, I'm not sure. But we did, dated for 4 years, was engaged for one year and now have been married for 25 years. I don't really think I knew he was "the one" until I went off to college and realized what a great guy he actually was. I am thankful every day for my "jerk"!!
