| Any thoughts on the country of Kashmir? I am taking an intercession World Regional Geography course and my last paper is due on Tuesday. I am supposed to pick a side and then write a 2 page paper discussing the reasons for why I chose the viewpoint that I did. The topic is the country of Kashmir-should it belong to India or Pakistan...or a third option, can they remain independent? Do any of you have any thoughts on the topic? Maybe some first hand knowledge or experience?

| Originally Kashmir belonged to India and 2x Pakistan has fought them for it. Now both countries have nuclear weapons....... not a good situation at all. Here is a little something that I read that I will share with you. I found it on a website. I personally think that Pakistan needs to back off..... Kashmir belongs to India. "Previous wars between India and Pakistan over control of Kashmir were waged before either country had nuclear arms. "We have allowed the situation in Kashmir to fester for over half a century," said Sen. Graham. "We should have and we need today to apply more diplomatic effort to resolve that issue." At the end of the Gulf War, India's then Chief of Staff was asked by reporters what he had learned from observing the conflict in Iraq. "Don't fight the Americans without nuclear weapons," he replied."

| It is so hard to just pick a side when, to be honest, I have never even heard of Kashmir until we talked about it in class on Friday.

| I can understand that...... maybe by doing some research and finding opinions by some of your favorite "politicals". I like to read on both "liberal and conservative" news sites..... fox/cnn. Maybe getting as many facts as you can will help you decide and give you more of an opinion. Goof Luck to you!
