| AHHHH! Some People! (venting) OK, I need to vent a little about something that has REALLY begun to irritate me lately. Maybe it's just because it's close to Christmas and everyone is looking for a Yorkie to give as a present or something, but I seem to be running across so many people lately who want a Yorkie for free or very little money and it really is just getting to me! (I personally want an Aston Martin for free or very little cost, but I doubt that's going to happen!) "I want a Yorkie, but I can't afford one." Well, then that is really just tough, isn't it!? Who the heck here wouldn't like to have been handed their little one(s) for no charge? Ya know.... And the thing is, many times there is a very sad story, some circumstance that they believe entitles them to get what they want. I realize that Yorkies or any other multitude of random things can be priced high and that it can be difficult for some to afford it, but does that honestly entitle someone to something for free/cheap? What makes any one person more deserving of one than the next? Ugh! It's very frustrating and a little insulting to be perfectly honest. OK, I feel a bit better now, thanks for letting me vent. This rant was sponsored and brought to you by my In-Laws. Last edited by BamaFan121s; 12-18-2008 at 08:00 AM. |

| AND, if they can't afford the puppy, what makes them think they can afford the vet bills and the cost of vaccinations and puppy teeth extraction..... do I need to continue? GRRRR I hear Ya!

| Not to mention that there are a multitude of expenses associated with owning a Yorkie that come AFTER you actually get him/her - vet costs, food, monthly cost of heartguard, tooth cleaner, warm clothing, beds, etc. etc. etc. If you can't afford to buy the puppy then you can't afford to take proper care of it. That's JMHO. I spend a small fortune on my two girls it seems - totally worth every penny for the happiness they bring me...but still!

| I know exactly what you mean. I advertise (elsewhere) my birds that I breed and sometimes get an email in response to the ads asking for a free one for their kids! When I respond - they tell me I should not get snippy with them!!

| What ppl don't seem to realize (or care about) is: They can have the most noble intentions in the World, but that doesn't change the costs that breeders have in properly caring for their dogs or raising a litter... |

| This sounds like my IN-LAWS. 3 weeks ago my mother in law bought a yorkie from the same breeder I bought mine form. I paid 900.00 and she wanted the breeder to give her half off for a puppy. Well they did to my surprise. Anyway after the first week she didnt even want to take the puppy to get vaccinated because quote " it costs too much" and "I need to buy Christmas gifts" . Well this really ticked me off so I found someone to buy the puppy after she left to work. Not to mention she hadnt even bought the dog any kind of toys or anything Well this puppy is now oin a great home with a daddy who imediately took him to the petstore and bought him tons of toys. My point is even if you get a yorkie for next to nothing they still require alot of extra expenses. If you cant afford the dog then dont buy it. |

| my take on this one....if you really want a yorkie bad enough, you will save up to get one...if you don't want one enough to save for it, you don't want one bad enough.

| what bothers me is when people want a yorkie or even a s**tz or maltese then treat them like some of the "mutt" (hope that doesnt come off offensivly)dogs they have had. They take extra care and time and training. Not to mention the entire grooming aspect. Or they want them to be completley trained in everything in 2 weeks time!!! I wish more people would research what they are doing before taking the leap! |

| I agree 100%. If you can't afford the purchase price, you can't afford to properly care for a dog. Even if you spend $2,000 on a puppy, it's a drop in the bucket compared to what it will cost over its lifetime. My Lady is a rescue and "free" (if you don't count the $600 I spent immediately on bloodwork, updating shots, a dental and cherry eye surgery ten years ago). At thirteen, all her health issues cost me $5,000 a year in medications, supplements and diabetic supplies alone. Vet bills (we usually have at least one big one a year that runs between $500-$1,000) are not included in that figure. |

| see related thread in Breeder's section Someone there started a thread about what breeders do with their unwanted puppies, as if there ever are any, and suggested we might want to donate them to the needy!?!?!? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | We are allowed to "vent" on Yorkietalk, and we are allowed to express our opinions, however we aren't allowed to attack members. To call all but one of us arrogant, seems to be attacking in my opinion. If you want to start your own vent thread about breeders who you think are "dishonest, unethical and flat out liars", feel free to do so. But just because you don't like the opinions expressed in this thread, please don't call us names. By the way, it seems like you are the one that is passing judgement.
