| Hot chocolate recipe needed So, I was really craving some good rich hot chocolate so I thought I would make some. Scoured the internet for recipes and finally decided on this one.... Best Hot Cocoa Mix Recipe: Christmas Gifts in Jars - and More Great Family Fun Recipe Ideas Well, contrary to the rave reviews it got, it fell a bit short for my taste buds. I even added another half cup of creamer mix to the original recipe after I tasted the first cup and that didn't really help. I am wanting something creamy and rich in chocolate flavor. Something WAY different from Swiss Miss or Hershey's. Anyone have any favorites they want to share? Or maybe I should just go out and buy some Ghiradelli (sp?) mix??

| My boys like it when i use....Swiss miss ( or anybrand ) then I put 2 -3 squares of Ghirardelli 100% cacao unsweetened chocolate bar in it ( depending on how rich and thick you like it ) and stir it around and then add a pinch of chili powder. They love it ...sometimes I use little marshmellows in it also. There are alot of recipes for Mexican Hot chocolate on the net. My boys love it .

| I know you said you didn't want Hershey's, but have you tried making the real hot chocolate (stovetop kind) that's on the side of the Hershey's cocoa box? It's usually so sweet I can't hardly drink a whole cup of it... and I have a HORRIBLE sweet tooth. Just a thought!

| I am addicted to hot chocolate. My new favorite is the milk chocolate from Harry and David. My moms likes their dark HC. Let me know when you find a good one! I would love to try it out!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmmm...if I recall, I saw Nigella Lawson (the Goddess) make a homemade hot chocolate on her show, and it looked GREAT! It would be on the Food Network website. I've made a few of her chocolatey thingys and they're all sinfully de-LISH.

| We went to Sam's Club with the neighbors last week and I picked up some Candycane Cocoa (milk choc) 28 packets. I was raised on good, old fashioned Hershey's Cocoa. I am just loving the Candycane Cocoa. Yummy. Went back and bought a box of packets for the kids and another one for us.

| I've been searching for the same thing! I came across this yesterday & decided I'll pick up the stuff tomorrow & give it a try! (I have three taste-testers that ALWAYS give me their honest opinion on things ) SANTA'S FAVORITE COCOA: 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips 2 cup milk 2 cup half & half 1/2 cup cocoa powder 1/4 cup sugar 3/4 tsp. vanilla (I usually add a tad more to things) pinch of salt over med-low heat, melt chips constantly stirring w/wooden spoon & adding bits of half/half to keep it liquid & smooth- keep adding liquid until all is in. Switch to a whisk, add in powdered cocoa in small parts, constantly whisking, allowing powder to completely dissolve between additions (to prevent clumping). After cocoa is in, slowly add in the sugar, milk, salt, & vanilla. Serve w/whipped cream, marshmellows, chocolate shavings, etc.

| Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm thinking the Godiva one sounds like something I'm really wanting. Or the Ghiradelli (sp?). I really don't want to spend a lot of time making it (on the stove) so what I was hoping for was a mix to make a whole bag of powder stuff to use quickly. I'll let ya'll know if/when I find the perfect one!
