Unhappy 9-11 Where were you?

Where were you on 9-11?

I was working as an assistant manager at the time and didn't know anything about it until around noon when my husband called. My manager was from NY city but it was her day off. She had many friends and cousins who worked in the trade center. Thankfully they were all able to get out.

I remember well - I had just been laid off due to my company closing and was interviewing and on my way home when I heard the news on the radio about a plane crashing into the towers - then the 2nd hit and all hell broke loose......we stayed glued to the tv for 3 days - it was just unreal and still is.

I was at work and my Mom called and said that a plane had hit the World Trade Towers in NYC. We thought at that time that it was a small plane and then we started getting more calls with more info. My company at the time put 2 TV's in the cafeteria so people could go see the news. I didn't go and watch as I felt I wnated to be home when I saw it, not sure why just didn't want to see the horror until I could process it and not have to go back to my work. One of the bosses, dtr was in the WTC and he was frantic trying to get a hold of her. He finally found out she was ok late that night,

I was at work--I'd started a new job a month prior--and was in our benefits orientation. The building sat on top of a mountain here just outside of Birmingham and you could see all the way to the city. There were still planes in the air that had not been grounded and of course we could see them all from where we were and froze to watch what was going to happen everytime we saw one.

I also remember that Alabama and Southern Miss were supposed to play at that weekend and I had tickets and all college games were cancelled. They rescheduled and played the game the end of November, at Legion Field, at night, in freezing rain and I was already sick as a dog and went anyway.

We just had our moment of silence. It only lasted for a few seconds, but there was dead silence for like 5 minutes afterwords. I can't believe it's already been 7 years.

I was in 3rd grade. Yup, I was REALLY young, but I still remember it. I think our teacher got a phone call and was told what happened, because immedietly she took us onto the carpet in the corner and was reading stories to us. One by one, all of the kids started getting called down to the office to be signed out. I remember specifically when this girl Nicole was called down, and she was like the 5th person, and we all started laughing really hard. Then I looked at the teacher who was just kind of sitting there. They weren't allowed to tell us what happened - but in my brother's school they turned all the TVs on and watched the news. I wasn't signed out because my parents were in another state at a funeral. There were like 3 kids left at the end of the day.

I don't remember if my parents ever actually told me what happened. I'm sure they did. I don't remember anything about the day as far as leaving school or turning on the news. But I remember when you know...we could all tell that something was going on.

I was walking into my building, and a coworker told me that there was something on the news about the first plane, and they were thinking there might be an air traffic control problem. Then the rest of the horror began unfolding, and all hell broke loose where I work because many of my coworkers are from or have family in New York. One of my bosses was particularly wigged out because she hadn't been able to reach some of her family members once the cell phone networks got all jammed. We spent the day doing very little work and mostly watching the coverage on a couple of TVs in the building. The worst image I remember was seeing the people of Iran dancing in the streets and celebrating and thanking Allah. Disgusting.

I was sitting at my kitchen counter watching the entire thing on the news as it was happening.

I remember taking Phoebi outside for a potty break and fighter jets flying over my house. We could see the actual building burning from the top of a hill around here.

What a horrible day that was.

I had requested that day off and when i turned on the TV and saw it on the news. I got in the car took my mom and went to pick up my nephew at school, his school was not close to the world trade center at all.

But when i got to his school there was chaos with parents trying to pick up their kids.

We were all safe but my sis was working in the city and had to walk alot and over a bridge to get home .

My condolences to all those who lost someone, even for all who didnt today is a day of rememberance!

Default Sad Day

I was on my way home after dropping off the little boy I was babysitting at school. I heard about the first plane on the Radio. Turned on the TV as soon as I got home. Then saw the second one hit. What a horrible, horrible day that was and the days that followed.

I was sitting at the circulation desk in the elementary school library that i worked in. I remember seeing the news flash on CNN and then we turned on the TV - I can remember feeling weak and sick and so very scared. I sat at my desk glued to the computer reading updates with tears streaming down my face.

I had just dropped my daughter off at school- 1st grade and came home and turned on the news. What an awful, terrifying day! It was also my 8th wedding anniversary- today is my 15th. A sad day for a wedding anniversary, huh?

I was in the 10th grade in French class. I lived in a small town by Buffalo, NY so a lot of kids I went to school with knew people that lived in NYC. It was horrible and the teachers weren't really allowed to tell us anything. It was a very sad day.

I was a senior in high school and remember being in science class and one of the other teachers came in and told out teacher to turn on the tv. He said we were in the middle of a lesson and the other teacher told him he thinks he should turn it on now. Everyone was in shock and we really didn't know what was going on at first. One of the foreign exchange students from Italy was siting next to me and I remember explaining it to her because she did not understand what was going on.
