| The Secret Life of the American Teenager series??? Have any of you seen this show? Just curious what your opinion is on it? I think it is completely inappropriate for young teens! I know I sound like I'm 60but I mean all they talk about is sex every other sentence- no joke! I was in Middle school like 8 years ago and I know times have changed but hardly anyone talked about things like this ALL THE TIME. I think this show is trying to bring awareness to teen pregnancy and such (especially with all the teenager pregnancy issues all over the news) but I think it's going about the wrong way. Watching the show really made me uncomfortable because they were soooo young and I am almost 24!! My little sister who is 12 and just started middle school watched some parts of it and kept saying "ew" and stuff and so I changed the channel. I don't think any middle school kids should be watching it even though all the actors/actresses are middle schoolers (or at least playing the part of one). I think it is kind of like the whole "D.A.R.E" program and how it stopped in many places because it actually made kids more curious about drugs and so more prone to try it.. I think this show just makes kids more curious about sex! Just want to know if I am the only one who thinks this show is a bit "too much" for young kids to watch? |

| I watched it once because it looked interesting from the commercials, worst hour of my life and I can't ever get it back! The episode I saw was when the girl was supposed to go to a different school for pregnant girls, but went back to the old school and everyone was talking about her. It definitly wasn't praising teenage pregnancy, I think it gave a vibe off that would make others going through the same thing feel more comfortable though. So I guess it showed that being pregnant and in highschool isn't glamourous, but then again I only saw one episode. I really don't think the plot of the show is appropriate for ABC Family assuming they target younger kids. On a side note...worse acting ever! And don't feel bad, I'm the same age as you!!

| TV is just really pathetic these days and I'm only 20 (not too much younger than you). I honestly wouldn't have it if we didn't HAVE to have it in order to have internet (stupid, I know). Everything is so sad and I really don't want to bring any kids up around it. I've been watching a re-run of the VMA's and I'm so tired of seeing commercials for other shows with insane cursing and violence.

| That's just how I feel about the world all together. I couldn't imagine bringing a pour innocent soul into this world and them having to deal with the outrageous prices and just the world in general - it's SO scary.

| I have seen an episode and it is pretty risque for pre-teens. Unfortunately a lot of people their age ARE doing the same things as the characters are on the show. I would say I was shocked to see that one girl, the hussy, half naked but sadly that is what every single show on tv displays.

Donating YT 11K Club Member | I've heard of it but i haven't seen it yet. I think some of the episodes are on youtube though. One of the actors from the show was on Chelsea lately, he is so hot! But he is like 21 and this show is supposed to be about high school students? Honestly these days kids are doing things much younger, i do think a lot of it is influenced by the tv and celebrities tho. I will have to watch this show..

| no, they are in high school. The pregnant girl is 15. Her sister is 13 but looks older than her sister. And then some of the other characters are supposed to be 16. I've watched a few episodes and i don't think it discourages sex at all. And the acting is pretty bad

| I have never watched it, nor has my DD. But some of our church friends let their daughters watch it....and I don't know why...because just a few years ago, their daughters couldn't even watch PG13 movies, etc....and this shows seems like it wouldn't be a good thing for them to watch. I may sound crazy but I have always let me daughter watch a lot of shows/movies that others wouldn't allow....and I have found that by doing this...she as grown to NOT like certain movies (where as her friends that aren't allowed to watch, they are sneaking or always asking to watch them). AND she has gotten to were she will say "how can they live with themselves for doing that" or "why would someone do that anyway"...so it is a learning lesson for her...we are very open here...so I do not shy away from her questions...I would rather her know things and their consequences then go blindly into the world (and our world is crazy nowadays)! Back to the show topic...I don't think it would be something that would interest her anyway...but I may have to check into it and see what it is about...doesn't sound very good though.....course...there isn't many "good" shows on tv anymore!
