| I am so upset w/ the news about John Edward... I just cannot believe that he cheated on his wife when she was struggling with a breast cancer. I have a supervisee who has been fighting her breast cancer. She talks to me about her struggles in our supervisions... and I know how painful it is to have a breast cancer as a woman... I am just so upset!!! How did all the campaign money spend? "I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up, feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself. I have been stripped bare and will now work with everything I have to help my family and others who need my help." I am speechless!!! I

| I'm also stunned and disappointed. But I do understand how all that attention and adulation can make a person feel special and untouchable. The guy is human and has learned a hard lesson; I hope he straightens himself out completely and sticks with his wonderful wife. Too bad most celebs don't learn this same lesson; they just continue thinking they're so special that they do no wrong. |

| my question is...why would he go visit this woman and her child in Beverly Hills if the affair is over and the child is not his??? One or more of these things must be true: 1--the affair is not over 2--it is his child 3--both of the above. I think #2 is correct. |

| It is really upsetting that he would stab her in the back when she was going on with this terrible disease. Shame on him |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Why does this surprise anyone ?? Seems to me they pretty much all seem to do this and LIE about it. I Love how his wife said she supports his "honesty" hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm - I saw a news clip where he flat out denied (LIED) about it. If he was serious about stopping the rumors saying he's a dad - then he should have already taken the paternity test. People shut up when proof is in front of them. These 'leaders' are only human. Thing is - someone forgot to tell THEM that lol What was it BILL CLINTON said ?..... I Did Not Sleep with that woman. Okay Bill and John (and countless other men)... We hear ya guys - problem is - who believes you ? |

| I'm pretty jaded I guess, but I wasn't surprised at all. It's sad when you actually expect stuff like this to happen.

| I was really surprised. I was taken in by going to Wendy's every year on their anniversary and so sad for the family because of the death of their son, Wade. His wife did not know about going to see her (and supposedly the baby) when he did last month. He was hiding in the men's room because The Inquirer was there taking pictures. I agree that if the child were not mine, I would have a paternity test for all to see. Elizabeth does not need this on top of her illness. I heard on the news today that the woman loves him and believes they will be married some day. I do not understand the bias in this country. It was reported that John McCain was having an affair with a Lobbiest when there was no proof, yet none of these liberal journalists would report on John Edwards until he came out with this, even though they had proof of him leaving the hotel room (after being there for some 5 hours). I am a liberal, but I believe we ought to be fair to all sides. I will never feel the same about John Edwards again, and think he should stay out of the public eye and make amends with his family.

| I am not surprised. He always reminded me of some shister, slick lawyer and this just fits the bill. I feel very bad for his wife and family.

| I suppose being from NC you tend to know more about John Edwards and some of the others than most people. I'm not the least bit surprised to hear this as he's always been so vain but to treat her like this, in my opinion, is unforgivable. I've been through breast cancer twice and my husband stuck by me 100%, loving me just as much completely bald as before. Things are much different in our world than theirs. I doubt very much that there's a politician alive that hasn't cheated on their wives. HIS ONLY REGRET IS THAT HE WAS CAUGHT!

| Being from NC - I too am highly disappointed .... I will say however, that I did appreciate what I heard on CNN this morning. Basically it was that he had told his wife and family (before the news broke) and they dealt with it as a family and made the decision to keep it private as his wife had forgiven him. He said that he got to a point where he felt "special" and became arrogant etc. He did not make excuses which I appreciated.... though still disappointed. He did say the child was not his and he would welcome a test to prove that to stop the talk . Again... nothing excuses this type of behavior... I know first hand how an affair can affect the spouse... my heart goes out to Mrs. Edwards. |
