| Witnessed robbery at Starbucks...and I'm upset. This event occurred on Saturday night. My gf and I went to a local Starbucks. The place was decently full, generally no one standing in line, but all of the tables were taken. I had just finished placing my order, and was waiting for my coffee to be made. So I'm standing by the "pick up" here side of the counter. I just happen to notice two high school kids who suddenly ran into each other in a small collision, only to dash out the two seperate entrances. I noticed a dollar bill fall on the ground. That, and as one of the kids dashed out the door, I noticed the "tip jar" in his hand. I immediately told the staff, that those guys ran off w/ your tip jar. One of the staff members ran after them (not a smart move). She came back a minute or two later. She trailed one of the guys, but stopped the chase after awhile. I had already dialed 911 (to report a robbery in progress. mentioned that they had stolen a tip jar). They told me to call a non-emergency number. I called the non-emergency number, they took the info, and possibly came by about 10-15 minutes later. (Just as a side note, the operator who was an officer, didn't even think this was a non-emergency...) Maybe it was my fault that I had mentioned that they had stolen the tip jar. Maybe I should've just left that info out, to give them a more sense of "urgency" towards the situation. I felt bad though. These two kids were just that. Kids. I know I could've taken them, but I realized what was going on a little too late. If only I had gone after them. I know that my safety would've been an issue...if I gave chase. But these two kids were your typical white high school kids. Physically, I could've beaten them to a pulp. I'm most upset that I didn't realize what was going on sooner. I know that my safety would've been an issue, but I guess I'm just one of those guys who would've tried to do something. A part of me would've loved to take them down. I felt bad for the staff at Starbucks. That tip jar was full. Possibly about $30 - $40 in change. A part of me is disappointed in myself. I should've realized what was going on sooner. (I was the first person who realize what had happend though). A part of me knows I could've gotten hurt if they had a knife or a gun or something. Sigh... |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Wow - I'm glad you're OK !! that doesn't surprise me that you saw this - but what DOES surprise me is there was no weapon involved - you COULD step in but somethimes it's best to leave that to the cops....those little wannabe hoods WILL get caught - any kids that's dumb enough to do something like that in front of a while restaurant is bound to land his little butt in jail - out of stupidity if nothing else. |

| This will make you feel better... Quote:
Here the guys in the line next to me had robbed the place at gunpoint and I didn't even notice!!! I guess I was too worried about whether or not I wanted "to get hash browns with that" to notice. (In my defense I hadn't had my coffee yet either) So my friend in the car had to give their description to the cops, because she had watched it all from outside. Talk about feeling lame!! She never let me live that one down!!

| I think you did the best thing you could have. I'm sorry, but now a days you don't know who's carrying a knife or a gun. Kids or not you could have been seriously injured. You did the right thing. Be proud of yourself. |

| I know how you guys feel! Ok at a little craft store i used to work at before we moved, we got robbed while i was on duty! See, what happened was i has left the till to go help a customer. While i was away this guy opened the till and took all the money! But an off duty coworker that was shopping at the time knew i wasnt at the till and she heard it open and look around the corner and saw this guy with his hands full of money. SHE starts ringing the bell and was like sarah sarah, help, help! so i ran to the front of the store and she is confornting this guy and staying give us our money back. he was like no its mine i swear!(yeah right thats why the till is empty) she was liek sarah huch much was in there i was like quite a bit and there wasonly a couple ones left! She was pushing hime give us our money back he ran out the door, and she was chasing him1 he got in his car and i was calling the cops she ran back was yelling the plate number. THat was really traumatic! i called the owner and told him to come to the soter, and the cops came and we got that all done. They never did catch the guy. Afterwards, i was shaking so bad. But, see we actually got lucky becasue the we actually emptied the till 1hr before. So he coulda got 1500, but he only got a like 200. And you know what it was like the day before christmas eve.

| Wow! That is too bad that those kids felt that was an okay thing to do and that they got away with it. It was right that you did not try to stop them for $40 or any amount of money. It's not worth it. |
