| this is why i stand behind what i say and feel where pitbulls are concerned. I am sorry but I dont care how nice the owners of these dogs say they are, I would never trust a pitt around my children or my entire family for that matter. I feel so bad for that little boy and his family

| Dito. I only hear about this, pitt bull this pitt bull that. My husband was trying to convince me of how great pets they make, and he had one for like 6 months. I said "over my dead body". He sees them as such beautiful dogs, and I see bloody murder!!! That breed was and still is breed for fighting! You wouldn't keep a wolf as a pet so why a renowned wild pitt bull?? I will settle for a big dog, like a rottweiler puppy, but in no hell ever ever ever a pitt bull... Poor boy.. stupid parents.

| I have a pit bull and have had her for years. She was bred over and over, dumped and left to starve when I found her in a park. She is the most well behaved dog I have ever had cross my path. She has even raised several "foster puppies" of various mixes, and they turned out gentle as well. The stories you hear in the news do not share the stories of the "typical" well bred pit bull. They are sensationalizing the few bad things that happen because that is what gets people all riled up. The reason that "pit bulls" like the one that attacked this family (considering it was more than one member) are the product of the OVER breeding of the dogs, in breeding, without concern of what is created. Years ago Dobies were "the demon dogs" that the public cried to be banned. Rottweilers have also gotten bad press. This was clearly a case of an improperly bred dog who should have been euthanized at the FIRST sign of trouble....it never should have gotten to a bite... You can see Liberty on my website. She is my best friend, and goes with me every where I can take her. She has been a wonderful ambassador for her breed. Pit bulls were (and in a lot of cases are still) bred for fighting by insecure, immature (enter your own words as well) people who have to use a dog to make their ego liveable. However, pit bulls were NOT bred to be human aggressive. Human aggressive pit bulls were immediately killed because the owner had to be able to get his dog from the pit and attend to the wounds himself, since dog fighters do not use vets. This is one fact that many do not know about. However, due to the stupidity of people, some dogs were bred to be human aggressive, or made that way by the way they were treated. Also, those big pitbulls you see, and the "low riders" as they call them, are all BRED with different breeds in their backgrounds to encourage human aggressiveness, size, and a meaner look. I want to share with you MY story. I had lost my lab, and was devastated. My husband had a friend who was getting rid of a dog his ex girlfriend abandoned with him. He brought her over and she was a beautiful, pure white mixed breed I named "Abby." She was all of about 45 pounds. While at the lake with my 2 children, my dad, my pit bull Liberty and my white mixed breed Abby, Abby launched a full on attack on Liberty from the rear and when Liberty turned to protect herself, Abby latched onto her face, almost removing her eye. My dad and I stepped in and Liberty accidently got my finger in her mouth and immediately let go, even though she was being ripped to shreds by my other dog. Abby, on the other hand, turned her attention and launched her attack ON MY FATHER!! I almost lost my dad that day at the lake. As I ran with my two children for help, my dad was bleeding severely. Abby bit down to the bone in his hand, and almost severed the artery in his arm. And she was NO pitbull. In the album, you will see a pic of Abby. I'd had her two years. The pic of my finger with the scratches from Liberty, the near fatal bites to my dad's arm (almost severed his artery) and the bite to his hand that exposed his bone. | That is so very sad, the poor child . I am still a firm believer that it isn't the breed, but the owner no matter what though so I will not say anything negative about the pitt bulls. |

| I feel very sorry for the child. What kind of parents does he have though? But why was he left home alone at 10 years old? The dog was probably not trained or socialized. I am against BSL, it is not the breed, it is the owner and breeders that are at fault. . A rottweiler will bite someone before a pit bull will. I work at a shelter and we have only had one case of a pit bull biting someone. But have had several rottweilers, shepherds, cattle dogs, bulldogs, and labs that bit people. We have had more rottis and labs attack other animals then pit bulls too. We have several pit bulls brought in for running at large and they have not hurt anyone or other animals. I have picked up several stray pit bulls in my job and they are usually very friendly. I have dealt with mean shepherds, chows, chihuahuas, rottweilers. A rotti mix attacked the other animal control officer. Please do not hate a particular breed. Dogs are what we make them to be. We need to stop backyard breeders and give all dogs lots of socialization.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I BELIEVE ANYONE RESPONSIBLE FOR CHILDREN SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY TYPE OF DOG WITH A HISTORY OF ATTACKING!!! That poor child will now have to live with the horror & disability of the attack-obviously the parents should be charged!!!

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | I don't understand why the dog was not taken away the 1st time this happened! When our dobbie attacked me, we did not have a say so in the matter, they took him away and said we could not have him back unless we had a 6 foot privacy fence and a special insurance. Of course I did not want him back after what he did to me. But that dog should have been removed from the home, especially where children lived! | yet another pitt bull attack. I KNOW I KNOW!! It is the OWNERS not the dog. But by damn, MY child or pet will NOT be around one. I don't care how friendly! Just yesterday, I took 2 of my yorkies to the vets to get shots. Mike had one on a leash and I had another. Right near the front door (outside) sat a young family (2 adults, 4 kids, all under the age of about 5) with thier pitt bull waiting to be called for their dog to get his shots. At first I wondered why he was sitting outside, but as we started to walk past them with our yorkies on VERY short leashes, carefully walking them on the opposite side of us so we were between the dog and ours. It was all the owner could do to keep his dog from attacking mine. I could just imagine the owners saying, oh he is so sweet. we have him around our kids and he has never bitten one. Sure enough the kids were toddlers and hanging all over the dog, but as soon as he saw our yorkies he was straining at his leash snarling and barking and I have no doubt he would have killed them if he could get to them. Now tell me that dog wouldn't bite a person too! and yes, I have read that other dogs are on the "top 10" list of attacks, but they don't all have the shear strenght of a pitt bull. One bite and he no doubt would have killed my dogs.

| It breaks my heart to learn that yet another child is damaged for life because of a "family pet". I just cannot understand why people with children feel it necessary to have mean aggressive dogs. |

| Did you see the case in Erie, PA where a sheepdog mix, attacked and killed a little 14 month old? It was so sad. The dog also attacked the mother trying to save her daughter from their family pet. The dog got loose and was running around the neighborhood covered in blood. The police shot and killed the dog. It was a sad story all around.

| It is very sad that a child was hurt so severely. Not all Pit Bulls are dangerous though, however, if one has already attacked somebody, then that should have been taken seriously the first time.

| My brother has two amazing pitbulls, great members of the family. I am still a little nervous with my children around them. There are alot of dogs besides pitbulls that attack. Children and dogs unless trained right are a scary combination! I had fostered a little cockapoo mix, that thing would attack anything that moved. It was dangerous like a pitbull but my son still has a little scar from an unprovoked bite to his face.
