| crochet vs. knit Can any of you crafty YTers explain the difference to me? I kind of understand if I picture a crocheted blanket and a knitted sweater- is crochet in general a more open weave? I just bought some knit dish cloths from Etsy and it took days deliberating between knit and crochet. They are a bit smaller than I want and so I need to order some more. So this is what I get when I search "knit dishcloths" Etsy :: Search Results and this is what I get when I search "crochet dishcloths" Etsy :: Search Results. Would y'all think one would be better than the other. They are to wash dishes with. TIA! BTW, anyone here make these?

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I crochet... i do know that You crochet with 1 Hook & you knit with 2 needle's. Since there both yarn i really don't think it matter's i would pick with ever one you like JMO. Just wanted to add to me it look's like they use a thicker yarn to crochet them.I don't know what would clean better. |

| Thank you! Hmmm, seem like thicker yarn would make them more durable.

Knitting does give you a much tighter weave than the crocheting. I am not sure what to tell you in regards to durability.

| i do both...and i have made washcloths......knitting seems to hold together better and if you are making them yourself use cotton yarn....washes up better and doesnt leave lint

| you should look closely to see the difference in the two. I knit and crochet but would rather have my dish clothes knitted for the less bulky feel. I have made and use both. I also would prefer my dish clothes to have bigger stitches. (almost like stitches are missing). you may not like yours this way. try ordering one in crochet and one in knit and see which you like best. I guess I should add that the density and texture also depends on the yarn being used and the size needle also. (for both knit and crochet). cotton yarn is best for dish cloths

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I've just learned to knit ( I crochet) and I started with dishcloths to get started. It's a great way to practice and see something come together. I learned knitting from knittinghelp.com and I found some neat clips on YouTube, too. I joined Ravelry and LOVE finding great patterns for crochet and knit and drooling at everyone else's work I'm doing a very easy patterned scarf right now that's cast on 24, Knit 2, Knit 1 in back, Purl 1 and repeat, K2 at very end of row and just keep going until you get the length you want

| Thanks! Thanks to everyone who responded. I did buy 3 knitted ones and I like them with the exception of the size being smaller than I want. I think I'm just going to order some more (larger) knitted ones. If anyone makes them for sale here just let me know within the next day or so. I'd rather order from a YTer than a stranger.

| I have made dish cloths out of cotton. I have done them in crochet, tunisian crochet and I make them on knitting looms. I have done tons of them. What size are you looking for? I like the ones that are a bit looser stitched as they dry faster. Hmm, the page isn't opening for me. I don't know why. I have some cotton dish cloths that are 7x5 and that seems a good size. I don't have an exact size preference but around the size of a small (maybe a baby) washcloth. Oh edit- tht page is openening for me- I'm off to look.

| Julie is going to make me some but I might get enthusiastic and try to learn. My daughter tryed to learn to knit on her own once and it seemed really hard.
