| Bridal shower gifts? Okay so my younger cousin is getting married on August 30. We have never really been close at all. Well I guess when we were younger we were, but when she hit her teens she was tall and blonde and skinny and too cool to hang out with me. Anyways, I'd like to think she's matured since then! She got her first boyfriend at 17, 4 years ago. He's really a nice guy and gets along with my family. He's very much a kid at heart though, he hasn't really grown up. Anyways, after she broke up with him last fall, they got back together at Christmas and immediately got engaged. She is now 21 and still going through university. Everyone assumed they'd wait a few years, but instead they planned the wedding for 8 months later! Now my brother told me that she was asking for my number to invite me to her bridal shower. My grandma said "Oh her mom just called me, it's on Wednesday night at her parents' house" but I guess I haven't gotten an "official" invitation to it at all. I actually saw her later that day and she made small talk with me but didn't mention the shower at all. Now I'm wondering if I'm actually invited or not (maybe she assumed other people told me?), am I obligated to go, and what kind of present should I get? I guess this is kind of a long-winded story for a short question lol

| IMO, no you are not obligated to go call from her mother or not. It was her responsibility to have you on the guest list. |

| Thanks. My grandma keeps asking if I'm going and I said "probably". I'm not sure if she's even registered ANYWHERE. It just seems this whole wedding is very rushed. I don't know. I just feel like it would be a bit awkward. If I'm going I need to decide asap since I only have tonight to shop, and pretty much only Walmart is open late here.

| If you did not receive an official invitation then I'd say NO, i wouldn't go. Save yourself the money and spend it on a fabulous dress for you for the wedding! (sorry Im in bridal shower hell lately with a wedding im IN soon haha) Then just give her a wedding gift of money. Thats easy enough.

| Sounds good. I wonder if my grandma will be upset about me not going. She was giving me directions last night to their house and everything. Maybe I can be "not feeling well" after work tomorrow.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | You know what if someone is important to you to share in your special time they get invited. If not they get some half assed word of mouth invite. She gave you that and that is not good enough. Personally I would go treat myself to a nice pair of shoes and say forget that.

| It is up to the person who is throwing the shower to invite you. If you don't want to go, I'd say you're off the hook. "Not feeling well" might make it a little easier for grandma to take though.
