| A question about Standard Poodles Just got back from day 3 of a dog show here in town and my parents and I had a question that we hope someone who goes to dog shows can answer for us. Why do the handlers keep their hands over the poodle's mouth... it looks like they are trying to hold it shut. Are Standard Poodles known for snapping at other dogs/people? We saw about 5 different people do this with there Poodles... anyone know? |

| Last summer we went to the dog show here in town and was at the Yorkie ring and on a table waiting their turn, a lady was holding her Yorkies muzzle too. Don't know why, unless they are barkers and don't want to disturb the ones in the ring? I thought it looked strange, but didn't notice any other breed having this done. |

| I worked for a handler that speciallized in showing standard poodles. He also held the mouth shut. I am not sure why though unless its common for them to fight at ring-side or he doesnt want slobbers on that perfectly groomed hair. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | You see this alot with poodles, but also some in other breeds as well. It is done to prevent the dog from shaking and messing up their hair.
