Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Hi I had an enlarged thyroid and it put some weight on me and my cycle went missing. They treated me for about four months and adjusted the dosages and my thyroid did shrink. I am no longer on it because they say it's not necessary. Hopefully they can get your dosage right. I do suggest that you take a calcium pill and a good vitamin. One of the prolonged usage issues of the hormone replacement is bone degeneration and possible ostheoperosis is what I was told.

| I was just diagnosed with low thyroid and started on synthroid 0.125 per day. I didn't have any symptoms, but my thyroid has been running low normal for a few years, and now is it showing low. I've been on the medication about a month now and I think I have more energy and feel better, although I didn't really feel badly before, just a little tired. It is important to take calcium and vitamin D. BUT you must not take the calcium within four hours of the synthroid because calcium interferes with the absorption of synthroid. So, if you take your synthroid at 7:00AM, you should not take calcium (or eat calcium rich food) until 11:00AM. It is also important to take synthroid on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before eating. That's about all I know, hopefully someone will give both of us some good advice.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I am off of it now. I used to take my synthroid at 6 am and then around dinner time take the calcium and vitamin supplement. I was tired beyond tired. I did start taking Women's One A Day..it helped a lot.

| Need help Hello Everyone: My 11 month old Yorkie has a rash...he started itching and about a week later developed small hard lumps on his body. He was given a shot of penicillin and five days of styroid pills to stop the itching. that was a little over one month ago. The itching started again last week and today the small lumps are back. His coat is beautiful. I've changed his food to natural food as suggested by the vet, I've kept him inside (off of grass) as suggested...has not proven helpful. Would any of you have experienced this with your pet...any suggestions would be appreciated. Lady Di |

| Back to the synthroid... I am on synthroid.. I was diagnosed with ADD about four or so years ago and juggled different meds for about 2 1/2 years when I foolishly asked my dr if she really thought that I had ADD...it seems as if every disorder/disease has the same symptoms...well...she put me on seroquel (bi-polar) this past July or August...BIG MISTAKE!!! Not only did it damage my liver..which wasn't "noticed" until this past February..but I suddenly gained 18 lbs in 16 days..I was so swollen, I litterallly looked like I was about 7 months pregnant...I had to bring this up as a red flag, since no one thought it was odd..had I lost that much I would think they would be reacting. So finally got her to do some additional testing and found a nodule on my thyroid so we fooled around until January..After gaining 48 lbs in less than 6 months!! I found an endocrinologist and she put me on the synthroid 50mg. Last time my levels were at a 2 so she was satisfied...I wasn't. I am still exhausted! I take Trazodone to fall asleep at night and my Adderall XR is what basically helps me wake up...its crazy! Tested my adrenal for adrenal fatigue syndrome..first test showed my levels were low, week later they were normal? Lord...the only thing I have learned through this is not to trust any damn doctors to figure out what is wrong with me! I am my own advocate! I research, research, research and then tell them what I want tested

| After my son was born I was diagnosed with Graves Disease and my thyroid was ablated. After about 6 weeks I started taking Levoxyl. My dose has gradually increased over the years. My recommendation is to take your meds every single day and never get behind. I received a bad lot of my Levoxyl and went way hypo (chills, shakes, headaches, tired beyond tired) and will never be without my Levoxyl again. Good luck! Oh, I would also recommend that anyone with thyroid issues see an endocrinologist. |

| I have had hypothyroidism for 10 years. I was on Synthroid for about 7 years, but my tsh levels were still up and down. While it did provide me with a ton of relief from being on nothing, it still wasnt making things just right. So I switched to Armour thyroid because its non-synthetic, and its like I never have had an issue with my thyroid. Finding out I had it was a giant relief to me. I was convinced I was dying and had gained a lot of weight withing a couple of months. I had leg cramps non stop and hurt everywhere. Once your tsh level is regulated, you will feel back to normal again.

| I have Hypothyroidism too...I do use Synthroid, and have not had any problems with it. I do know many people that are unable to use Synthroid due to side effects. Blood test should be done on a regular basis to be sure the dosage is correct for you...best measured with a TSH. I seem to feel my best when my TSH is between 1 and 3. Mine started with Sub-acute Thyroiditis/Hyperthyroidism...it eventually burned itself out...although it seemed like an eternity and I felt absolutely awful during this Hyper stage. Hypothyroidism is much easier to treat...I feel human again!!!
