| Help...should I buy this house Hi all.... I am currently in a dilemma. Have been shopping for a house for a while...esp during the overpriced housing bubble. Finally things are easing price wise from the over inflated prices of a year ago or so. I have found a house in a pretty good price range but the bedrooms are kinda small. One bed room is 12x12...mmm ok. The next one is 9x9 and the third is 9x8....mmmmm kinda small good for a crib. The exterior is ok brick an stucco..ok size lot. But needs some tlc...kitchen cabinets etc. I really want a yard for the 4 legged kiddies (we live in an apt now, but don't want to be foolish). I am just not in love with the house but am in love with the idea of home ownership. So do I have any opinions out there...I filled out a contract but told my realtor to hold it till I call him and tell him to present the offer Help Tina

| Since you're not in love with the house, I would wait and shop some more. I'm nervous you'll regret the purchase after being there for awhile. I know houses over here are going up for sale like crazy. Look around some more, your house is out there some where |

| If your not in love with it, don't buy it! A house is a huge purchase (obviously), probably one of the most, if not the most important investment you'll ever make. This place will be your home, you want to love your home and feel comfortable in your home, and have pride in it. If your not feeling it, do not buy it! If your having trouble finding a home you love in your price range, I would try foreclosures.

| I agree with the others. This is too huge an investment not to absolutely LOVE the house. I believe you will feel it when it's the right one. I did with both houses i've purchased. Good Luck to you!

| I agree, don't buy something you don't love. If you love it, the inevitable faults aren't as hard to live with. |

| I also agree that prices are dropping. I live in a small town where there's lots of houses for sale. Owners are starting to get desperate to sell. Good luck.

| Good answers from everyone. Another reason to wait would be that if you do NOT love it, buy it anyway and later decide you want to sell...maybe others won't love it either... and you will be stuck with it for who knows how long.

| As a Realtor, I agree. Keep your agent on his/her toes....he/she should be pounding the payment to try and find you the house that is PERFECT for you not just one that you should settle for. It's out there....I'd wait. It is such a huge investment and those bedrooms are on the small side. JMO

| Prices are going to continue dropping this year, so I would just hold out and keep looking. When the right home comes along you will definitely know it! Since buying a home is the single most important and expensive investment you should only buy one that you are totally in love with. Remember, if you move into a home you are not all that crazy about, you will only be unhappy. You could also check out lots for sale and see how much building one that you like would cost. Building a home is generally half as much as buying an existing one. |

| Oh no, do not buy a house your not in love with!!! I or I should say we did. My DH loved it from the first time we looked at it 4 mos before we put an offer on it. I did not want to live here, but agreed because he wanted it so bad. He kept saying location, location location!!! Ya whatever, the location is out in the country across from some state wildlife land, which means it will never be developed. I regret the decision to buy our house on a daily basis. As we are now a family of 5 in a stinkin 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, no garage, laundry in bathroom house!!!! When we bought it I was preggo w/ our 2nd child so it might have worked out. But a year later when my 3rd was born it hit him that hey, this IS NOT the house for us!! Sorry to go into our problems, lol! But my point is if you don't have that certain feeling for the house, then it's probably not the right place to call home Buying a home is a lifelong or at leat in our case a 30yr investment. Which when your only 24 when you go into that 30yr mortgage it will feel like a lifetime, lol! I'm sure there is the perfect place to hang your hat out there, and when you find it you will know in your heart |
