| Have you ever.... Have you ever just had one of THOSE days at work? You know the kind that make you want to curl up under your desk in the verrrrry back of your cubicle and chew through the darn phone cord and rock back and forward until people are scared to come bother you? LOL! I know that sounds weird and I would NEVER do that (It was a scenario given to me by a coworker to describe the bad day that I've had!) Anyway, somebody tell me about how bad your worst "bad day at work" was so that I'll feel better about mine! P.S. My day today included the statements: "Can you create a 20 page powerpoint in 5 or 10 minutes?" "What do you mean there's a foot of water in the mailroom!" "I don't have a diagnosis, I'm just disabled all over."

| well im 14, so i dont work .but i sure can tell you about the worst day i had at school . it was today ! i went to school trembling because i knew what lay ahead i had a project due that was nearly finished . it was a 'group' project that i did everything on . i wasnt even praised about it . i literally took home a blank page with no information and made a pamphlet about tangerine, florida by myself . didnt start the day good . next, in math, i had to finish a quiz that i started the day before (i missed half of the class to take a spanish test) . it was soooo hard and i was sent to a room where the kids were trouble makers. i HATE going to other classes to finish work . it just makes me nervous then i had lunch, and we had a practice lockdown . it started in the middle of lunch and ended a period and a half later. we couldnt move and i was bored to tears . then i went to science where i had to present a project and read an essay that was entirely too short . i was shakingly nervous and got yelled at by the teacher every 3 seconds for not standing properly (???????) . it made me sooo awkwardly nervous !!!! i was like in tears when i ended . then i had spanish. a class that is completely boring where we do nothing because our teacher barely knows english . horrrrible dayyy . ughhh . these kinds of days only happen once every few months, thank god

| sorry you had such a bad day, sounds like your handling it pretty well, though Sounds like a Margarita kinda' night, if you ask me!! Wish I could help you out with a terrible work story, but I can't think of any offhand to top yours...but the person who asked you to create the 20 page powerpoint in 5 or 10 minutes should be escorted to the mailroom and held under the 1 foot of water until they are very, very sorry.

| I have had a few of "those" days lately -- and the really sad thing is I am self-employed and work from home! We all have bad days from time to time..... I just pray for more good days than bad ones. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | My last job -- which was technically my first job, I just worked there for 12 years -- was with a real crappy company. Everyone who worked there was abused regularly in some way on a massive scale. (Overworked, underpaid, nasty, nasty surroundings with crazy people everywhere.) The last straw came as I was about to depart on vacation. I think my boss at the time figured I'd blow a gasket, go on vacation and come back over it all. He wanted me to: 1) Switch jobs with a male co-worker who had been with the company about 6 months longer than me. Oh, and made about $10,000/yr more at the time than me. 2) Continue to do half the job I was already doing, but supposedly trading off. 3) Do all of this without a pay raise. I gave myself 90 days to get out. Even if that meant going to McDonald's, buddy, that's where I'd be. Luckily, I got a good job with a great company -- with just 4 days left on the clock. |

| Oh girl I publicly love you everyday! I promise you post something almost everyday that has me ROFL... and since I play on YT at work, there are days when that makes all the difference. I'm glad that I was able to make your day a little better I should keep a thread of all the crazy things people say at my work everyday. Maybe I'll start a blog...

| I can relate, especially to the Powerpoint presentation. I work as a word processor in a law firm, and they have NO idea how long things like that take. I think my worst day at work was years ago when I worked at a different law firm as a legal secretary. I was only about 21 at the time. Our law firm had just merged with another, and we were all extremely overworked and stressed out. I had been trying to help another coworker keep her job by learning shorthand (I'm aging myself). I babysat her toddler son after work two nights a week so she could go to school, and I did it for free because I wanted to help her. It got to be too much for her, and she was having problems in her marriage, and add to that the stress of work. She couldn't cope. She was also trying to learn to use the computer...when the early ones came out (Lanier). She was so nice, but she didn't work well under pressure. I felt bad for her. One Saturday we were working, and I was making copies of about a zillion things for the merger, and it was priority. She was having problems with the computer, and came to me for help. I told her that I would be right there as soon as I finished the batch of copies I was making....only about 20 more copies left in that batch. She got mad because I didn't drop everything and run to help her, and she started yelling about how she couldn't handle the stress and screaming, and she kinda just lost it and slapped me. I was so shocked, I couldn't believe it! Everyone was shocked because I hadn't ever been unkind to her EVER. I only tried to help her as much as I could. She then locked herself in a law library room and wouldn't come out. We had to get the personnel manager on the phone with her to finally calm her down. It was a CRAZY day! I'm sorry you had a bad day, and I hope tomorrow is a better one!

That's outrageous! I'm glad you got out. I work for the state in a position that I feel REALLY helps people. And on most days I'm really proud of the work I do. But somedays when I look at all the people doing nothing and getting the same paycheck (or a BIGGER paycheck), and when people call in acting like I owe them assistance and tell me what we're GONNA do for them, and when it seems like I'm the only person in my program who know how to do a darn thing, I want OUT! Of course, then another paid holiday (aka Confederate Memorial Day) rolls around and I can't imagine working somewhere else.

I think this girl just had so much going on that she kind of snapped, and I was the closest to her when it happened. She was very sorry and apologetic afterward and admitted she had anger issues and had slapped her husband. She always seemed so sweet, it was just a shock. I tried to talk her out of it, but she resigned. She knew they would fire her. I was willing to go to bat for her to make sure she didn't get fired. It was a really bad situation.

Everybody has THOSE days, no matter where they work, what they do or how they feel about their jobs. But, when you start having a majority of THOSE days, so much so that it overshadows everything else you do, that's when it's time to look for a new job. Good luck to you. Hang in there! (It IS Friday after all.) | |
