| Any Artists here? Painting Yorkies? OK, I can't resist. Are there any artists here...painting Yorkies? I know some artists specialize in painting dogs, or animals, so I thought I'd ask. I'd love to see your websites. I'm an oil painter, but I paint still life, landscape and figures. I have been thinking of doing a doggie portrait or two of my babies. Perhaps you can give me some inspiration!

| Do some of them paint on shirts? That would be really neat. Are you giving out any special people or websites to us? I think that would be interesting to look at also.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yes, we have a member named "Yorkie Painter" and she donated a piece for the YT raffle that I was lucky enough to win. It is really beautiful. Here is her site Art By Shelly O'Dell She also does portraits from pictures. This is the picture I won. http://artbysodell.com/images/gallery/daisydog.jpg Everybody who sees it thinks it's Joey when he was a puppy.

| Go for it!! You've got all the inspiration that you need -- your pups The hardest part I have with painting dogs I don't know is that I don't know their personality. You know your dogs. The great thing about Yorkies (and to a degree other small dogs) is that they are very expressive. That is why I love painting Yorkies. Good luck and I'd love to see how they turn out. Shelly

I'm not crazy about painting from photo, so I think that's why I haven't tried it yet. Taking the photos are difficult enough! lol Trixie is also still very dark and it's difficult to see her eyes in a photo. Oh, the pain... I'll post an image of my attempt when the time comes. http://www.kathycooperfineart.com

| My brother and his girlfriend are very talented artists. She has just recently gotten into animal art, and did this piece with colored pencil. I am going to ask them to do one of my dogs. She sells her art online, and they both do comissioned work. Kailee_and_Moose_by_Skyejcb.jpg

| I'm just impressed that it was done in colored pencil! If I had artistic skills I'd paint or draw dogs all day! They are such beautiful subjects!

| Yes, but they are a challenge to paint from life! Kind of like kids. At least with kids I can put a TV on a cartoon channel behind me.

| Cooperk I too, am an oil artist. I have not painted in yrs til recently. My LaFrancoils dried up, even unopened tubes. I did do a painting but had trouble with it working well. I will try to post a pic or two. No dogs, bit I am sure I could. I did a few on wood many years ago. A Golden Ret on a board a blind man wanted over his door of his seeing eye dog and others. I also did a few on sweatshirts for a client's dog I groomed. More than 9 yrs ago. Yes, The man in the photo is who you think he was. He died in Nov 07. The woman is me. 1972. Mostly I did still life Trompe L'oeil. Just pic up the brush and go for it. ENJOY!LOVE the running dog above my post! Last edited by tapiocagirl; 05-24-2008 at 09:34 PM. |

| Cooperk The man is phtoo was Robert Goulet, the singer. I had not seen him since I delivererd the painting to him in that pic 1972. I was shocked to learn on Prime Time tv show. I saw him in the superbowl commercial. He looked BAD. He died not too long after that, it seems. He was handsome in 1972, AND CHARMING.tHANKS. I could have had $917.00 charged to my card but I did something stupid and it went for a new garage door instead! hahaha. Eventually, I will buy paint and start up. It was fun foer a while. Hard to dispose of turpintine paper towels safely. Flamable, you know. I like stills with dripping water drops. Here is my most recent pic of a child, if I can locate photo. | Labrown Wow, great drawing. I don't think I can draw like that, yet I can take a circle and make it into a plum with dripping water drops. Drawing portraits of dogs and people I think is the hardest. I like to paint seascapes too. maybe there is a future for me selling my art on line. haven't a clue how to do that tho. I am a new computer owner. I want to retire soon....maybe this is an answer for income and sitting home enjoying painting again! Never thought of it before! Thyanks YT! |
