Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I live in PHX! What kind of recommendations are you looking for? The spa resorts here are incredible, so I'm sure you'll be well spoiled there . The thing about the Phoenix/Scottsdale area is that it is veeeeeeerrrry spread out (huge urban sprawl) - so I wouldn't want to give recommendations until you gave a general idea of the area you might be willing to travel to. Are you into fancy schmancy eating? Hiking? Shopping?

| We are going to Sheraton wild horse pass resort. So shopping areas would be of interest and we will probably hire a car and go a couple of road trips...is the Grand Canyon only a few hours drive away?

Another fun place to eat in PHX is Elements at The Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain (the mountain right in the city of Phoenix). Elements has a great view - incredible food and chef, wine. Great shopping nearby too! I could go on and on....

| I am in Tucson, just south of Phoenix. If you decide to come down this way, let me know! I'll give you a tour. I agree that Sedona and Grand Canyon are two "can't miss" destinations. Have a wonderful time! |

| I grew up in Sedona!!! It is one of the most beautiful places on Earth!! The whole Verde Valley is beautiful. That includes Sedona, Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Jerome, Page Springs, and Oak Creek Canyon. Jerome is a unique historical mining/ghost town. It mostly a tourist trap, but worth seeing. If you like Native American stuff, Montezuma Castle and Monterzuma Well are fun to see. Sedona is stunning!! Its mostly touristy but, in my opinion, is more beautiful than the Grand Canyon. They have Pink Jeep Tours that go on nice trips into the forest around Sedona. Then go up Oak Creek Canyon to Flagstaff. Its a medium size college town(Northern Az University). There is lots of biking and hiking. There is Walnut Canyon Indian ruin hike and Sunset Crater hike, the last volcano to erupt in Az. The Museum of Northern Az is interesting. You can ride up the skii lift to the top of the san Francisoco Peaks. On a clear day, you can see the rim of the Grand Canyon. Then, 70 miles away is the Grand Canyon. The view of the canyon from the rim is breath-taking. Hope you have a fun visit!!!! |
