| Prayer Requested - Tear Duct Surgery Will you please pray for my mom? She will undergo surgery tomorrow (Wed.) to build a new tear duct. It is a very painful sounding surgery and she is very afraid of going under anesthesia, with all the risks involved. Her existing tear duct has been blocked for mths and causes excess tearing, plus she continues to get colds and infections. She actually had to cancel the surgery about 2 weeks ago because she was so sick. She still has some little cough and stuff, but she & I think the eye issue is keeping her from getting totally well. Thank you all for being so carrying.

| Thank you for your willingness to pray for her - you all are the best! This describes the surgery my mom will have tomorrow Dacryocystorhinostomy for a blocked tear duct -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dacryocystorhinostomy is a type of surgery sometimes used to treat blocked tear ducts in adults. It is rarely used in children. This procedure creates a new passageway between the tear duct sac and the nasal cavity, bypassing the blocked tear duct. A tube is inserted through the tear duct sac and into the nose through a hole in the bone. This tube is left in the nose and stitched in place. Adults who have long-term tear duct blockage that is not caused by an infection often need to have dacryocystorhinostomy. If the person has a tear duct infection, surgery will be delayed until the infection has cleared. Either local or general anesthesia can be used during this procedure. Antibiotics applied to the eye or taken by mouth are used to prevent infection after surgery. After about 3 days, you return to the doctor's office to check the placement of the tube and to have the stitches removed. The tube is left in place for at least 6 weeks. The risks of dacryocystorhinostomy include: Bleeding from the nose. Infection or blockage of the tear ducts. Tube displacement (the tube shifting out of place).

| My dad called just a bit ago, my mom has had a hard time coming out of the anesthesia -- they were suppose to be there 3 hrs today, but instead have been there 5 hrs - the 2 hrs were not because of the surgery or any delays, but because my mom doesn't do well with anesthesia. Will you please continue to pray for her? I think the next few days at least will be very difficult. She is not to blow her nose and a whole list of other things...
