| How does she live with herself?!?! (Sorry it's long) Ok so back in August, one of the women at my office got a GSD/Golden mix puppy for her 13 yr old son. It was "free to a good home" from another lady in our office building. Well from day 1 I knew that this was a bad place for the dog "Chico" as my coworker is a very self centered person. After getting the puppy, she told me that she "wasn't going to have anything to do with the dog as he was her husband and son's problem" and made it very clear that he wouldn't be in her home at any time. I was enraged but since she was my coworker I had to keep my cool. I explained to her about getting him a dog house and putting it in a shady place. I talked to her about vet needs and exercise needs and dietary needs. I gave her multiple websites. She didn't hear a word I said. One day she came in super upset because Chico (in absolute boredom I'm sure) chewed through the cord linking her airconditioner to the outdoor unit. I told her she needed to put a fence around the unit to A. Keep Chico safe and B. Keep her unit safe. Instead they put hot sauce on the wires so Chico would avoid it. I asked if anyone was walking him or playing with him and she said that her son walked him on Saturday's but had too much homework the rest of the week. I explained that he MUST be exercised regularly and followed up by telling her that since she hadn't taken him to the vet yet he needed to go immediately. Then a few months later she came in and mentioned that he would go off of his food for days at time. But would go right back on it and be active and normal. I again told her he HAD to go to the vet and this time my roommate offered to take Chico since he was clearly too much for them. Coworker said no because her son would hate her. Thankfully coworker moved to another department so I couldn't ring her neck. Well today she emailed me and said that yesterday when she and her husband got in from work, Chico was unresponsive and foaming from the mouth. So they decided to wait til TODAY to take him to the vet but when her husband got home to take him to the vet he had already passed away. RIP Chico. I think now that he probably had seizures and thats why he would go off his food for days at a time. I can only console myself with the knowledge that he's in a better place now. Anyway now I am totally heartbroken and sooooooo angry with my coworker. What kind of person leaves a puppy to lay suffering until the next day? Even as I type this I can't help but cry. And whats worse is I still have to deal with this woman occationally. How am I supposed to do that without losing my temper with her?

| I find it absolutely amazing how some people are just born without brains, common sence or a heart. Your co-worker is one of those people. I would avoid her like the plague for my own sanity, however, if it's business related be professional of course. People like her have their own place already waiting for them down below. R.I.P. baby. Breaks your heart. She should be fined for abuse. What did her son learn from this experience. How to abuse an animal is all I can see. |

| I would lose my temper at her. Plain and simple. What an awful person! My goodness, i could not imagine ANYONE letting an animal suffer like that for a full day before going for vet care. Too bad the other lady who gave the puppy away didnt research her "good home" more also. You gotta work with her occassionally, treat her with professional courtesy and thats it. You don't need or want someone like her as a 'work friend' anyways. UGH!

| During the summer he lives with her inlaws during the week and only stays with them on the weekends. During the school year, he pretty much takes care of himself after school and spends weekends at her inlaws.

| Oh that poor puppy. RIP. If you hear of them even thinking about getting another puppy, I would report them the the humane society! They should not have any pets! I just hope that their son did not learn that to abuse an animal is okay.

| No heart, no brain, no compassion. That's how people like that live with themselves. Poor baby. So sad. |

| I know exactly how you feel! If I didn't have to work with her she would have long ago gotten WAY more than just a piece of my mind.

| Oh man what a sad sad story -- from start to finish. I would be in tears of sorrow if I wasn't so angry. I sincerely hope that this family doesn't get another dog. I just cannot imagine the pain and suffering that little Chico had to endure in his short life. |

| Well said, Jody. Plus people like that only think of themselves. I hope they never get another dog. Rest in Peace dear Chico, you deserved better.

YT 500 Club Member | This is such a sad story. I really think there must be something seriously wrong there since her son lives with the grandparents most of the time. This is a pretty messed up family. They should be parents or have pets!!!
