| Personal FEMALE question Ok so I am trying to avoid having my period around the time of the wedding and right now it seems I'm starting around 30-31st and it only takes 3-4 days and I'm done. But I just don't want to be anywhere near my period on our wedding. So I just finished my birth control pills today, so if I just start my new pack tomorrow and don't leave that one week gap for my period, will that help? But then I also don't want my period on our honeymoon. We're leaving for our honeymoon 6/8 for 2 weeks. WHAT SHOULD I DO??

I Love Thor Donating Member | You can skip the 'off week' of your pills, but you still may have break through bleeding. You can just continue on your pack (skipping the week off) for many months at a time (no period for wedding and honeymoon). Sometimes it takes a few cycles before you don't get breakthrough bleeding, but some people don't get it. Good luck....hope this maybe helped. Last edited by Thorsmomma; 04-28-2008 at 08:43 PM. |

| I think you can just skip the iron pills and start a new pack on your period week so you skip it this month..

| If your pills have a steady does of hormones, like each pill is the same, it's not a problem to continously take them. I was taking them 3 months straight with one week off. You might have some breakthrough bleeding the first few months though.

I Love Thor Donating Member | My bf was just sitting next to me and said "can i read that female question...what's that about"...I gave him the quick run down of the question and he goes "can I answer that and you tell her". So I'm like 'okay what is her solution' and he answers "tell her, she should take milk of magnesium and tell her that I'm a professional" LOL maybe you had to be here, he is so funny! He's NOT a professional! Too funny! |

| I'm guessing your wedding is somewhere in the beginning of June?? ummm maybe you can see if you could start early and get it over with before your wedding date since it's only lasting 3-4 days? Or just skipping that month and take your birth control? It wouldn't hurt to skip a month but I would def try to start earlier! Good luck!!

| I skip my period taking yasmin pills by just taking them continously and never taking a break/the "sugar pills"... ive been doing it for years and it really works for me well (a miracle really!) and i dont get any break through bleeding. ive spoken to my primary care doctor who ive had since i was little and she says its perfectly okay (i asked her before i started doing it). anyway recently she gave me some samples of a new birthcontrol pill called lybrel. im starting it at the begining of my next period, but basically lybrel is made for you to take them continuously and not have your period. I say give that a try... oorr just start now with skipping the periods on your regular bc so by wedding/honey moon there is less of a chace of break through bleeding, as it takes a bit for your body to adjust |

| Seasonale is a birth control you take where you go three months before you take the sugar pills..so you only have a period 4 times a year. I've heard you can just skip pills with other birth controls though too...just ask your doctor

| I've heard that you can skip the last week of pills and start a new pack with a little bleeding. never have tried it since i've had no reason too. I'd be careful on making it routine or going so many months without one. Your doctor should be able to help you. Congrats!!!!

| I used to skip for 3 or 4 months in a row but a lot of times there is spotting until your body gets used to it. I'd start now and see how bad your spotting is and try to get it regulated (if you have it) by your wedding. I think I spotted for 2 months before my body adjusted. I was a huge PITA! edit to add- I was on Ortho Cyclin.

| They also have these menstrual cups at Walmart(thats where i got mine from) called Insteads. I have an IUD and cant use hormone pills and bought these for when i went on my cruise with my cycle in tow lol. They worked fine and u can also "do the do" while its inserted. Just google Instead menstrual cups for more info. Im gonna have to buy more for my upcoming June cruise But u have to be comfortable with ur body when inserting and taking them out |

| You can start a new pack of pills, but if your period is usually heavy, it may only deter bleeding for a week or so. If you stop taking your pill early, you will most likely get your period early. But then you'll have to use protection!

| I was on ortho tri-cyclen & tried to skip a period one month & had break through bleeding & just felt off. My gyno said that was because it has different hormones each week. If you are on a pill that's mono-hormonal like yaz. You can skip your period all the time without too much trouble. When i switched to yaz i started taken them in a way to only have a period every 3 months. the first 3 months were a little weird. You're body still acts like you're gonna have a period, but you don't. I had breakthrough bleeding one day the 2nd month. since i've been on it now for almost a year, i have no problems. I don't even have PMS symptoms until the 3rd month. it's really pretty cool. I'm thinking about changing to seasonique so i'm on a more normal schedule though.
