| Gift ideas for the mom of a graduate My long time girlfriend is a single mom and has raised a wonderful daughter. "Kat" graduates from college in June. I will be going to the graduation. I got her a PDA. I got to thinking, she would not be who she is if it were not for the hard work, dedication and selflessness of her mom. I thought it might be nice to get "mom" something special for graduation. Any ideas? She is a simple person, does not wear makeup or fancy clothes. She is very budget conscious. I was thinking about maybe a necklace. She is into scrap booking big time. She just took "Kat" to Ireland for a graduation gift so they now have many pictures to deal with. I got her a scrapbook for her Ireland pictures for Christmas. She does not have a computer at home. She does not cook. I still have time to order something custom. Thanks for your help.

| How about a watch or piece of jewelry engraved with something special about being a good mom or something? I have a little jewelry box from Things Remembered that I was given when I "retired" from my son's PTO when he graduated from elementary school and that was really nice too. Or lastly, a book fitting for the occassion. |

| I like the jewelry idea...how about a necklace with her daughter's birthstone in it, or something engraved with her daughter's birthdate and then the graduation date? Or, what about a small memory box that you have engraved-she could put pictures of her daughter, special photos, and other small things in there-or use it as a jewelry box.

| How nice of you to remember the mom of the graduate, I'm sure she will treasure the gift no matter what you give her. A piece of jewelry sounds good, that way she could always keep it. Is she the spa type? Maybe a day at the spa?

You can get a memory box/jewelry box at Things Remembered. They have a few styles. Also, they will engrave things you buy elsewhere-if you find something metal or glass that you want engraved, you can take it there and they will personalize it for you. A friend once did glass swizzle sticks for me-who knew?

| When my dh died, my dtrs gave me a beautiful wooden (mohogany) box from Things Remembered. On the top was a personal engraving and a pic of my dh. When you open it, there are a group of picture albums with pics of him. They have the same wooden bindings as the box. Things Remembered - Mahogany Collage Top Box There are others.

| I just want to make sure that you don't think the Angel signifies death or something. I was just thinking of a way for her to remember her little Angel's big day and Mom's big part in that! If you think this won't convey the wrong idea, I am going to go for it because I really like the Angel.
