| Advice & Ideas please. The Great American Road Trip! I am moving to Oklahoma. My friend from California is flying down to drive with me. When we get to Oklahoma we are staying for a few days and then driving to California. I have never been. So basically we are driving across country from East Coast to West. How often do you really have a chance to do that in your life? I am really looking forward to it. So I was wondering if you guys could give some ideas and advice on fun and interesting stops that need to be made along the way. I want this trip to be memorable. Thanks |

| I like to stop in southern OK where there are scenic lookouts. The land is very pretty and untouched there. And I also like the action figure museum in Paul's Valley in southern OK. I don't know if it is your kind of thing, but I really liked it. Cross country road trip sounds like a lot of fun!

| I love road trips! A few years ago we 'yard saled' our way to Tennessee...it was a blast! When we take our trips we don't make a schedule at all and no reservations allowed, we like to visit the out of the way places, you know, the back road Mom & Pop places...you meet some interesting people that way. I've also found that the out of the way places hold the best memories...touristy places are o.k. but expensive and there's usually a lot of pressure to do things and get it all in not to mention the big crowds. I like nature stops and that little restaurant you normally wouldn't eat in...and we always visit the zoo in the area. |

| the plan is just to get in the car and drive west. I am sure we will find things along the way. But its fun to getr other peoples opinions on what is a "cant be missed" opportunity.I want some things that we are definatly going to see like the Grand Canyon....but then there is always the accidental find in a certain state that is fun. |

| This is one of the things if you are going this route that is amazing. We accidently came upon this and spent almost 3 hours looking at all of it... CROSS OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST MINISTRIES We've stopped here more than once. Everytime we stop they have something else added. It's UH-Mazing!

| Oh my gosh, have a safe, wonderful, fun trip. My son & I did that this past September. We drove from PA to L.Vegas, NV. I too thought it was a trip of a lifetime. Unfortunately, we didn't get to make many stops cause he had a time frame when he wanted to get there. Saw a neat state highway sign in OK that had the name of the city and said "Home of American Idol Winner, Carrie Underwood".
