| Anyone else have a cougar problem??? It's bad enough that across the street from my house theres a wooded area, and it has wild animals including hawks and coyotes, but now theres supposedly a cougar on the loose! The last areas this cat has been spotted in aren't too far from my house, but hopefully by now he's way past my house. Were already very cautious when we take Rocky and Bella outside because of the other animals, but what are we supposed to do if we saw this! I guess I should start carrying a gun on my walks now. http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/n...GAR_S1.article

| My mom keeps stressing to me that they attack PEOPLE, not just animals! I still can't help only worrying for my babies though. I guess I'm usually in the mindset of protecting my yorkies, that even when I try I can't worry over myself for it.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Wow I heard it was in North Chicago not far from me and now it traveled to Round Lake, it could have passed right by my house. I will be extra vigilant with my babies.

My Lil Man! Donating Member | Oh I know...I worry for my lil man alot too. I thinks its the fact that they are so small and at times...helpless. Like if a hawk was coming...they can run but they dont have a way to ward off the hawk where we could take a broom and swipe it away. We just love our babies soo much and that is absolutely WONDERFUL!!! I wish ALL pet owners were like us here at YT!! |

| Carrying a gun? How would you manage aiming a gun at a moving target with two dogs? I think I would just not walk alone or not walk at all.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I think she was joking, but your point is well taken. My Yorkies would jump out of their skin if I fired a gun off anywhere near them.

| Someone on another thread mentioned shock guns. They are really easy to use and can be bought on Ebay. It would be safer than a gun and easier to fire. Gosh, be careful! It's scary and those type animals have a way of sneaking up and you don't even see them coming. Good luck!!!

The only problem with mase or tasers is that the animal would have to be right next to you, and if that cat got that close to anyone, that person would probably be lunch! Hopefully the next I hear of this the animal will be caught!
