| Sad turn of events.... Remember I had written a few posts back about attending my boss' wedding ... well theres a back story to it... the bride's father is terminally ill with cancer.. he has been battling it for a while and after some years they thought it was in remission but it reappeared and this time it was too late .. he was in and out of the hospital and at one point in the april month or so it was really touch and go that my boss was in a meeting got a call that things didnt look so good and he just left. He was in therapy and under constant supervision .. and all i kept wondering was if he will be able to walk her down the isle.. the day of the wedding ... he did, in a wheelchair pushed by her brother... very sad there wasnt a dry eye in the church.. he didnt look too good but the wonderful thing was that he was there on her special day. he only saw the church ceremony ... didnt attend the recept. b/c his docs and nurses said it will be too much for him .. he was really weak. Well i just got a call from my boss' sister and she told me that the brides father passed away wednesday night... the bride and groom are in their honeymoon right now. the Lord works in mysterious ways ... its as if her father was holding out for her till her special day ... i mean just thinking about it just brings me to tears... I've experienced a similar situation where a loved one was in the brink of life and death and held out till all his loved ones got to say goodbye just one last time... Life.... really is precious... God Bless everyone sorry to post a sad one but i just wanted to share

| That's so sad, but at least he was there for her day, and his suffering has ended. I'm tearing up as I read and write back. Life is too precious.

| thanks girls... its extremely sad .. i met him and its just so .. i cant even find the word to use .. b/c sad doesnt seem to cut it for me .. i dunno ... im just very much in shock i guess... its just amazes me that he waited, he waited to see her get married. the thing that worries me now is that we dont know if my boss and his wife know... they are in their honeymoon in st. thomas.... her mother called her but i think got to her vmail so i dont know if they are coming back and cutting their honeymoon short .. im sure they will but i havent heard from him as of yet... the family isnt having a wake ... just having a showing/viewing in their home for 3 days then i believe a mass then they will cremate him... its just so bizzare how things turned out. but ur rite nobella ... he was suffering and now its over. it just sucks you know ...

| Holding on They say the same thing about my gramma on my mom's side, that she was holding on. She had terminal cancer and was barely holding on but she kept telling everyone she wanted to see her second granddaughter(me) be born. I was born January 22, 1978 and gramma Dorothy passed exactly one month later Feb. 22, 1978. Everyone says that they were thankful for me because they got to spend that little bit of extra time with gramma Dorothy. Kara |

| That's such a heartbreaking story. It really made me tear up because my grandmother also was able to just hold on to see me married. She was battling terminal breast cancer but weak as she was she managed to come to our wedding. It is so special to me to be able to have the wonderful memories and pictures of her there. My heart goes out to them and their family.

| The Lord works in mysterious ways! The same thing happened a few years ago to a friend of ours. The wedding was scheduled for June but because of the bride's father's cancer, it was scheduled for the week after Christmas. The bride's family was Jewish and our friend who is the step-father of the groom and a Rabbi did such a beautiful ceremony. The father died shrtly after the wedding. So, I guess it would be more appropriate to say "God works in mysterious ways!" Your story is not sad! It makes the point that we need to do what we feel we want to do WHEN we want to do it. In other words, your story was up-lifting, at least to me. Thank you for sharing. |

| Such a sad story...it must have been so hard for the bride too...I swear, when a family member has cancer, it's as hard on the family as it is the patient. I'm glad he could be there. So sad. |
