| Am I strange?? I was reading a thread about potty training, and when we got Jasmine she was 9 months old and was def NOT potty trained, she destroyed the carpet in our condo ( which we sold...hehe, the girl we sold it to screwed us so its on her now!!!! haha) but anyways, so she destroyed the carpet, I mean we had our Christmas tree and a red rug thing that goes under it and she tinkled all over it and we had light tan carpet so there were huge red spots everywhere! now mind you he got her for me before he even proposed to me. wanted nothing to do with a froo-froo dog and that dog is his baby! they love each other more than me!!!! no joke, and we just moved into a new house ( we bought our first home together!!! ) and she pooped on our new $500 rug! but i didn't really care it was just poop and hubby picked up and flushed it down the toilette, I know she is getting adjusted and all because she hasn't done that in a LONG time, but I don't get upset with her because she pooped, she went and stood next to me and hubby was like jassssssssssmine did u poop over here and she sits underneath out glass dining room table like no one can see her it's soooo funny!!!! lol I'm a terrible mom I let my dog poop in my house this morning!!!

| i'm the same way, i've heard that they don't respond when you get all freaked out about it, they know they did something wrong, and "ignoring" it i've been told is the best thing to do, praise her lots when she does what she's supposed to do...

| We "ignored" it for the first 7 months we had her with no success whatsoever so now I use the guilt-trip method. I just say to her in my best "disappointment" voice, "Kaba, NO MA'AM, did you poop/pee in the house?" She's actually gotten a ton better since I started this. Of course I never hit her or anything just a little guilt-trip goes a long way, at least with Kaba.

| You are a true dog lover The other day I was shocked to see my 9 year old son go into the bathroom and get some toilet paper and quietly go into his room and pick up a little doggie poopie and flushed it. He came out and told me Gizmo (Gizmo is getting old and wasn't potty trained well before we got him) had an accident in his room but that it was ok, he didn't mean to, and then my son went on his way like it was nothing. I thought, what other little boy would be so calm about finding a turd in his room? And cleaned it up with no complaints? He loves these little dogs! | I don't think you are strange at all I knew Lucy was going to be a challenge with house training and guess what? She still has accidents but I don't freak out about it. What's more surprising is that Thomas doesn't freak out about it...We strive for perfection, but don't demand it. Someone posted a poem/story about Yorkies feelings once and one of the lines was "If you get mad with me please don't ignore me for too long - after all, you are all that I have." That has always stayed with me...

| I still have that problem with Libby now and then. She is over a year now and every now and then I find a poop and know it belongs to her. LOL Thank goodness it's hard poop and cleans up easily!

| LOL, that is all you have to do is use the disappointed voice and Jasmine hates it and she will come right back to cuddle! I think that worked the best with getting her potty trained that was the only thing that worked for her!!!! Poor baby couldn't hold it any longer!!!!
