| I know I did the right thing/but did I? Walking Buddy last Sat evening around 5:00pm I rounded a corner and up on a grassy lawn were two, not one, but two pit bulls playing unleashed while their owners watched. Upon seeing me they called their dogs back to them hastly, very nervous it appeard to leash them. One of the dogs took it's time coming back to it's owner and was rewared with a smack to the side of it's head and repremanding from it's nervous owner. Both at that time went their seperate ways. Where I live every dog must be leashed. It's a rule! Thing is ,it was one of our board member's who owned one of the pits. I was seeing purple The thought of those pit bulls charging down the hill at me and Buddy was just too frightening. They would have torn him apart in less than a minute. I know the dog, her dog, is well trained but the nerve! I went right home a wrote a letter to the board and mailed it this am. I'm starting to have second thoughts. Would you have reported this incident? |

| I would have...and I have done it. I don't have issues with pits being unleashed...but unleashed dogs left unsupervised in my neighborhood...tormenting people and dogs as they walk by...playing in the middle of the road. yes...I reported it. and I think it is great that you did too. I mean...what if one of those dogs were to hurt a child or another dog???? you would feel really bad if you didn't report it and something happened. so rest easy knowing that you have possibly saved someone from injury...and those dogs from being put down because of them hurting someone.

| You did the right thing. If these owners want their dogs to run and play unleashed, then they should go to the dog park or fence in their yard. I hate it when I see any dog loose in a neighborhood, regardless of breed. Things can just happen TOOOO fast. I applaud your decision. If you let this go, then they will begin to think it is okayand maybe next time they won't be so quick to call their dogs. By reporting it, hopefully they will get the point and stick to the rules.

| You did the right thing, it is the rules, and I'm sure it's the rules for a reason. And come on...this is a pit bull we're talking about not some tiny dog that couldn't do alot of damage had it decided to attack. You were perfectly justified and the board member knows it (or will know it). I would've done the same

| Some rules are never to "broken" even by board members! Really, is not the board to help enforce the rules? Leashed Dogs are in the best intrest of all the people- and the dogs- in this case an unleashed dog was not in your or your dog's best intrest! IMO- not a person I'd want on any "board"

| I would have talked to the woman about it first. I was in a situation where I did something simular, and there were hurt feelings that I hadn't talked to her first about it. I learned a lesson I never forgot.

I thought about that but only for an instant because I then thought this is a board member! Got even madder and went home and wrote the letter! I don't care if she never talks to me, Ive never talked to her in the past. I was having second thoughts incase she denies it is all. I just want the board to assure me and repremand her that it won't happen again. I don't want a hassle! I guess whatever it is it is. I'll handle it when and if there is a problem. Thanks | |

| Carol you ABSOLUTELY did the right thing!! You could've saved Buddy or some other dogs' life. It takes less than a second for something tragic to happen and these ignorant people need to realize they MUST LEASH THEIR DOGS! Good for you!! I'm proud of you!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | You DEF Did the right thing - and what's up with smacking that poor dog like that for being 'slow' ? No wonder some dogs attack. But yes you did the right thing - I have a similar problem - My very HOT (but too young) next door neighbors have a pit - these 2 guys are so nice but at the same time - they let him off leash too - I haven't said a word yet but if I see him out again I may - he's ALL pit - but a very very nice dog too - his tail wags all the time and he's very well trained. I'm at the point where I pet him but hold the girls WAY up in the air when I'm petting him or put them in the apartment - They did have a very fast 'nose' meet but I had the girls on a 2" lead and was ready to pull them up fast if he made any sign of not being happy.....When 'Miss Big Mouth' Chanel barked at him....that was the end of that. I had to tell her YOU DO NOT BARK IN A PITT BULLS FACE & live to tell about it ! I really hate being scared of this pitt who seems like a gental giant - but things can happen in a split second The guys want me and the girls to come over and 'play' - YEAH RIGHT lol - they said they're dog is lonely |
