| Does anyone have Direct TV? I am having a battle with my cable company, if any of you saw my thead "cable companies..GRRR" Well, now on day 5 of no cable, have called customer service about 20 times and still no service tech in sight!! I am so angry and frustrated!! My husband and I are considering Direct TV but I don't know anyone who has it so I'm curious. If you have it, is the picture quality good? Do you have many days where you don't get signals? How badly do storms affect your picture. Any information and opinions would be greatly appreciated! |

No Longer a Member | we have Dish tv and we love it.. can watch different things on different tv's and you also get the dvr with it and it records up to 100 hrs of programming. I think with direct you have to have a separate box for each tv. The only time ours goes out is right when it starts storming then it comes back in . |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | We have DirecTv. Have had it since we've moved down here. The picture quality is great...but then again it all depends on what type of TV you have. When storms come, we loose our signal. Doesn't have to be a major storm, either. It cost us the same as it would have with cable and the extra channels we have...HBO, Starz and the Outdoor Channel for my husband. The only thing that I don't like about it is like I said...the storms. I heard that they're running a special right now that you can have DirecTV up to 4 receivers for $50 installation...better deal than when we joined. In fact, been thinking about having it disconnected for a couple of months and signing back on to get the special!

| We've had Direct TV for about 7 months now and we love it. We don't get bad storms here in my area, so we've never had to deal with outages or anything of that sort. We pay $110/month for 500+ channels and the picture quality is better than we were getting with cable. We also got the DVR and I couldn't live without it now that we have it. I much prefer satellite over cable |

| We have DirecTV, as well as cable. As txshopper73 said, it all depends on the tv you have. We have a big screen Sony & the high definition picture is incredible!! We do lose the signal occasionally during a bad storm, but we just switch over to cable. The reason we kept both is because we already had cable in all four of our bedrooms & did not want to have to pay for additional receivers in each room. Our special was two rooms at time of installation. The other reason we have both cable & directv is for picture-in-picture - a MUST during football season!!!!! We have been pleased with their service & quality!! |

| We have Dish TV, which we love. It has to storm pretty bad before it goes out.

| we've had directv for about 8 years, we've had no problems with them at all, the signal does go out during a storm. We only had on reciever and then they came out with that deal with the 4 room hookup, and we called them and they said they couldn't do that and it was for new members only and we told them we were do to dish network(we weren't gonna), and we had been with them for 8 years, and they came out the next day and installed the 4 rooms for us! Oh, the picture is really good too!

| I'm really leaning toward trying that too, but had the same concerns. I was thinking about the one SBC offers with dish network and doing one of those bundle things since I have SBC yahoo DSL. Anyone tried that or know anyone who has?

| Thanks to all of you for your input. I think we may try it, but I'm not through roasting our cable company yet. My husband called the Attorney General's office today to complain, and the last customer service rep I talked to was kind enough to give me emails, phone # and addresses of the Vice President of Corporate Communications, and the Director of External Communications. I already emailed and have hard copies to send tomorrow. Don't know if it'll do any good. Somehow if I just cave and close my account I don't feel like I get any satisfaction. If I can rattle some chains before I switch I'd rather do it that way. Thank you all!! |
