| Open Floor Plan? Does anyone here have a open floor plan in their home? For example , In my house you can stand in the front door and see the living room, dining room, kitchen and hall.. not all of course but a good amount.. This layout is the MAIN reason I am having problems with painting and finding the RIGHT paint color that DOESNT look too OVER DONE.... for those of you that have this type of plan.... what did you do about your wall color? |

| I have an open floor plan too and we just went with an off white color then use the room accents for color. My only complaint about the floor plan is that noise travels and my house always seems loud! Other than that, I love the open feeling to it...like the whole house is one big area. We have one door that closes off the master bedroom / bathroom area and the rest of the first floor is open living space. Good Luck finding the right color. I'm sure when you see it...you will know what will work in an instant!

| I have a very open floor plan. My kitchen, laundry room, living room, dining room and staircase are all one big room. When we remodeled the painter suggested using the same color throughout. But he used a glossy in the kitchen and laundry room and a flat paint in the rest. This gives it a look of continuity, but also "breaks up" the room into different sections. The color we used is hard to describe...a light tan with a touch of gold. Does that make any sense?

| I don't, but really wanted that when we bought the house we have now and I could really kick myself for not stickin gto my guns and holding out for one. You can BET that the next house I have will have one. At least to where the kitchen and living/den are open to one another. |

| My parents just built a house and it is a very open floor plan. They used a color called "camel back" it is a very warm color and they were able to do accent walls in the dining and kitchen areas of tobbaco and a rusty red color. I'm not sure who makes the color but it is wonderful. It is a sandy caramel color with no prominate undertones so it goes nicley with all templates. Next time I'm over that way I 'll see if the still have some of the touch up paint so I can tell you who it's made by. I'll also call her to see if there are any pictures.

| Here the floor plan of my house. The only difference is I had the builder leave out the wall enclosing the dining room. http://www.adamshomes.com/index.cfm?...imgid=51&cid=3 I never did paint the living area because everything is so open. I just painted the bedrooms and bathrooms. My kitchen has white cabinets, grey/black countertops and there is grey carpet in the living area, study, dining room. I suck at this kinda thing....put me in the paint section in Lowes and I'll stand there for days. Lol! There are just too many shades to pick from!
