| 17 weeks prego...iron low...iron pills are like horse pills Doc put me on iron pills along with my prenatals. Oh my goodness, they are huge! I already have problems taking big pills...just gags me. My prenatals are chewables which taste terrible so I smash them and put them with apple sauce. I have taken the iron pills two nights in a row now. I just dread it every night. The iron pills are going to cost me 46.00 month. I called the insurance co and the prescript is nonformulary and nonformulary is 60.00 copay and since the regular cost is 46.00 that is what I pay. That would explain why the insurance company covered nothing.

| first off,, Congrats!! then to the pill swallowing, my sister had that problem,, still does,, she crushed em into things she could make herself stomach,, they tried her on liquid vitamins and they were simply horrific!! she stayed with crushing the pills,, but you'll need to ask your doctor ,, as some aren't meant to be crushed either,, my advice, ,eat lots of Raisins,, spinach,, liver,, good iron rich foods! Best of Luck!

| Some pills can't be crushed or shouldn't be crushed. But like someone else mentioned....definitely get some healthy iron rich foods. Are you taking prenatals AND iron? Most prenatals are HUGE pills, but I know my daughter has to take iron pills and they are smaller. Congrats on your pregnancy!!!

| Ugh! I couldn't take the prenatal vitamins, my doctor told me to take 4 flinstone vitamins a day and it would be the same thing, so I did. HeHe I was put on iron pills after my son was born, it cramped my stomach so much I couldn't take them. I'm also not very good with taking pills, I have a high gag reflux.

| Heather, I was just wondering how you are doing. Hope you aren't having that awful morning sickness. I have a hard time taking pills...big ones. I can't take them with water, don't know why. I find it is easier to take with juice, coke, or anything but water. Good luck.

| Here is my suggestion, which sounds totally ridiculous, I know, but has worked for me. I have had problems swallowing pills my entire life, even tiny ones, just couln't do it. I now have to take glucophage, which are HUGE. I just imagine that I am taking a bite of chicken instead of swallowing a pill, it goes down so much easier. Sounds goofy, but works for me.

| I was on iron when I was pregnant and they were tiny little pills. Ask your doctor if there is an over the counter pill you can take. I think I was taking a form of Ferosol Quote:

| I get intravenous iron for anemia. 12 treatments over a six month period, then a six month break. It is covered at 100% by my insurance. You have to go to the hospital to do it, but maybe IV iron for a short period would be covered by your insurance?? Ask your Dr??? Anemia can kick ur butt!! Hope u r feeling better.
